Dance Videos

I've only done a couple of general dance video posts this year (where I featured more than one style of dance), so I thought I'd do another one today. In this post I'm sharing R'n'B, African and belly dance videos, as well as a brand new XG dance cover! :)


Victoria Monet | On My Mama- Lyrik London Choreography

First up is a choreo to On My Mama, the latest single by American singer Victoria Monet, which was released in June. It's performed by the dance group Haus Of London and posted on the channel of Lyrik London, an American entertainer and creative from Atlanta, Georgia.

The video was uploaded in July.

5 VIRAL AMAPIANO DANCE MOVES- Dance Tutorial by Presh Okosi

Next is up is some African dance! This is a dance tutorial by Nigerian Afro-Dancer and dance tutor Presh Okosi, which was uploaded in March. She is teaching 5 viral Amapiano dance moves. Amapiano is a dance genre that originated in South Africa.

Presh doesn't kow the names of all the moves, but the 2nd and 4th ones in the video are Umlando and roboto. Somebody in the comments on YouTube says that the first step is called Ggoz. Let me know if you know the names of them all! :)

20 MIN | Sweaty Belly Workout- Leilah Isaac

I also thought I'd share some belly dance! I haven't belly danced much this year but I've done a couple of workshops (most recently with Katie Holland last month) and I went to a class this week with Nadia Undine.

This is a video is by Leilah Issac, a fitness professional, belly dance and actor from the UK. She shares belly dance workouts, choreographies and fitness challenges online. She also teaches classes at the well-known Pineapple Dance Studios in London.

Here is a 20-minute belly dance workout from Leilah, which was uploaded on 1st October.

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] PUPPET SHOW- XG- Dance Cover by Fiancée (Vietnam)

Finally,  here is some Dance in Public! This is a dance cover to a song by Japanese girl group XG. Dance in Public is an activity where groups do dance covers in public places. K-pop in Public is one of the most popular genres. There are also some J-pop in Public covers  and ones from other Asian types of music such as C-pop, Thai pop and Vietnamese pop, but they don't seem to have taken off as much.

K-pop cover dances started getting really popular about 12 years ago, but according to Wikipedia the phenomenon began in Japan.

I've previously featured XG dance covers on the blog and noted that covers of their songs tend to be listed under "Dance in Public". The reason for this is that while the members are Japanese, they are considered a global group and their songs so far have been in English. The group's concept is also modelled on the Korean format (K-pop). While some XG covers are titled as J-pop in Public, more often it's Dance in Public. 

This is a cover of PUPPET SHOW, XG's latest single, which is from their debut mini album NEW DNA. Both single and album were released on 27th September. PUPPET SHOW is my favourite song from the mini album. :)

The dance cover is performed by Fiancée, a dance group based in Hanoi, Vietnam. The video was uploaded on 10th October.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
