Weekly Music Video

Today's video is VEQ TI by Kosovo Albanian singer  Era Istrefi  and Kosovo Albanian rapper and singer  Ledri Vula . It was released on 19th July It's Era's latest single (her last release was MOVE ON in March) and a recent one for Ledri (preceding his single JETA IME with Greek Albanian producer and singer  Claydee , which came out on 27th July). This is the second time that Era and Ledri have worked together, having previously collaborated on the single T'LO in June last year. VEQ TI is an Albanian language pop and rap song (with some English lyrics) and Era describes it as  "your sound of the summer" . The title translates as "Only You" in English. The music video also has summery vibes!     For more music by Era check out this post: Music video for MOVE ON  (released in March), plus links to more music:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/weekly-music-video_25.html    And for more on Ledri visit these links:  Music v...

Debut KARD Album + Disbandment/Hiatus

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week. I normally post on Fridays or Saturdays (most often Saturdays) but sometimes I don't manage to get a post finished in time. I had a busy day yesterday, so didn't get this finished. :) Korean group KARD have just released their 1st album Where To Now? (Part.2): NOWHERE. Sadly it will also be their last album (or at least there are no current plans for more) since they are disbanding after over 9 years together. However, as fans have pointed out, the group may not be permanently disbanding. The contract with their agency has expired and they aren't renewing it. The members have said that they plan to concentrate on solo careers but haven't ruled out reuniting as a group in the future. KARD is made up of 4 members- SOMIN, BM, JIWOO and J.seph. As one of the few co-ed/mixed gender groups in K-pop (an industry dominated by girl groups and boy bands  when it comes to group music) they stand out. I've followed them since thei...

International Music Crossovers

In recent years there have been some interesting collaborations and music crossovers between artists from different countries and music genres. I think it's cool to see diverse styles coming together, so today I'm featuring a few. :)   CKay/Nora Fatehi- IT'S TRUE Nigerian singer and record producer CKay teamed up with Canadian dancer, actress and singer  Nora Fatehi for the song IT'S TRUE in 2024. It's from his album EMOTIONS which was released in October 2024. IT'S TRUE is an Afrobeats song with a mix of English, Pidgin and Hindi lyrics. Nora has Moroccan heritage but is based in India due to her work in Bollywood (and also South Indian film industries ) hence the Hindi lyrics.  I featured the audio (it wasn't released as a single) as a Weekly Music Video last year and it was No. 8 on my Top 10 African Songs post in January. Watch it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2025/01/weekly-music-video_22.html   LISA feat. Tyla- WHEN I'M WITH YOU In Jun...

Current Favourite Songs

In the past few years, I've written occasional posts about my current favourite songs. More recently, I've also done posts featuring my fave songs from the year as a whole (like my Favourite Songs of 2025 post ). So here they are for the first half of 2026! You can see my previous posts at the links below: June 2019: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/06/current-favourite-songs.html May 2020: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/05/current-favourite-songs.html April 2021:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/04/current-favourite-songs.html Feb 2022: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/02/current-favourite-songs.html April 2024:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/04/current-favourite-songs.html   March 2025: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2025/03/current-favourite-songs.html   Here are the songs I like at the moment. :)     The Kid LAROI- COME DOWN Back in January, I featured some new music by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LA...

Weekly Music Video

Today's video is Goals by LISA ,  Anitta and Rema . The 3 artists have collaborated on the song for  FIFA World Cup 2026 , which is being hosted in North America this year (the US, Mexico and Canada). Thai singer LISA is a member of one of  the most well known K-pop groups  BLACKPINK and also has a successful solo career .   Brazilian singer Anitta is one of Brazil's most popular artists (having been nicknamed the  "Queen of Brazilian Pop" ) and has also expanded her career internationally, helped by her multilingual skills (she is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English).  Nigerian singer and rapper Rema is successful in his native country, having risen to fame after his debut single Dumebi (released in March 2019) became a hit. He went on to became famous internationally, with the release of the single Calm Down in February 2022 and the remix featuring American singer  Selena Gomez , which came out in August 2022. In 2025 he became...

Live Performances 2025/2026

Occasionally I share live performances on the blog. Apart from one about Asian girl groups  earlier this year, my last general post was in October . So today I'm featuring some newer performances from 2025 into 2026. :)   Coco Jones - On Sight (Live Performance) First up is a live performance from American singer Coco Jones . It was the 5th single from her debut album Why Not More?, originally released in April 2025, with the digital special edition Why Not More? (MORE!) following last August.  On Sight was also released in April last year. This live performance (which took place in October) sees Coco accompanied by backing singers and musicians. It gives the smooth R'n'B song a slightly more mellow vibe, although it's already pretty chilled!  The video was directed by cinematographer and producer Joshua Libertine . Please note that the song contains mild swearing. :)      Watch the music video for On Sight here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.co...

25th Anniversary of Jennifer Lopez's J.Lo Album- Part 2

In March I wrote a post about the 25th anniversary of Jennifer Lopez's  2nd studio album J.Lo. It ended up being quite long, so I split it into two parts. You can see Part 1 here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/25th-anniversary-of-jennifer-lopezs-jlo.html Now here is Part 2! It's taken a couple of months but never mind, lol. In this post I'm sharing more songs I like, plus new/previously unreleased tracks from the 25th anniversary edition of the album. :)    I'm Gonna Be Alright The original I'm Gonna Be Alright is a track from J.Lo but was not released as a single. It only has vocals by Jennifer  and samples the 1980 single 8th Wonder by American hip hop group The Sugarhill Gang .  The original version is more poppy and Latin style. This is the official audio.   I'm Gonna Be Alright (Track Masters Remix)  The song was remixed for Jennifer's 2002 album J to Tha L-O! The Remixes (her first remix album) and released as a single. The rem...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...

25th Anniversary of Jennifer Lopez's J.Lo Album- Part 1

Jennifer Lopez (one of my favourite singers) has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of her 2nd studio album J.Lo. It was released on 16th January 2001 in the US (22nd January in the UK) and is one of her most successful albums to date. I'm a bit behind with this post about it but never mind! :)  This has turned into quite a long post, so I'm splitting it up into two parts. Here is Part 1! :)   The anniversary comes after her other album milestones- the  20th anniversay of her 3rd album This Is Me...Then in November 2022 and the 20th anniversary of her 4th album Rebirth  in March 2025. To celebrate the J.Lo anniversary, Jennifer released a 25th anniversary edition which features one new song (Crazy (Nobody Else), exclusive tracks only previously available on international editions and a new remix of Play (Trixie Mattel Remix). The album's title is a reference to Jennifer's nickname J.Lo, given to her by fans. Its music style is  primarily dance-pop, La...

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Lullaby Remix by  JayDon and featuring Paradise , Jay Park and LOUIS of LNGSHOT . American singer JayDon released the original Lullaby (a smooth R'n'B song) in February 2025 as the lead single from his debut mixtape Me My Songs & I, which came out in October 2025. Other singles from the mixtape are I'll Be Good, The Way You Move and Jealous Of The Moon. JayDon's latest single is FLAMED UP (a stand-alone single) which was released last month. For the Lullaby remix, JayDon and singer Paradise (who is the son of American record producer L.A. Reid ) teamed up with American rapper and singer Jay (who has Korean heritage and is a K-pop turned K-R'n'B and hip hop artist) and LOUIS from Korean boyband LNGSHOT. So it's an American/Korean collaboration, which is cool! :)  Lullaby Remix was released last November. Another remix called Lullaby (mega remix) followed in December. It features singer Usher , who co-owns JayDon's record ...

K-pop Comebacks- BLACKPINK

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week; I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) 2026 is shaping up to be the year of K-pop  comebacks, with several popular groups reuniting (including two of the biggest internationally known groups BLACKPINK and BTS , so I thought I'd feature them in a miniseries. :)   First up is girl group  BLACKPINK . Since debuting in 2016, the 4-member group (made up of JENNIE, LISA, JISOO and  ROSÉ) has been very successful, both in Korea and around the world. In recent years the girls have concentrated on their solo careers . Their individual contracts with YG Entertainment (one of the biggest South Korean entertainment companies/record labels) expired but they  continued to work with YG for group activities and embarked on the <DEADLINE> world tour last summer, which lasted until this January.  Now the members have reunited for their first release since 2022's BORN PINK (their second studio album), an EP also c...
