Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Put It On Me by Ja Rule featuring Lil 'Mo and Vita. This is a good song,; it was released as a single in December 2000 (in America). The original version of the song doesn't contain Lil' Mo's vocals, so this is actually the remix.  The original version is on Ja Rule's second album Rule 3:36 (2000).

Ja Rule seems to have disappeared lately. He's had several legal issues and went to prison last year but was released in May 2013. His last album was PIL 2 (Pain Is Love 2) which was released in 2012. According to Wikipedia he brought out two singles last year, Fresh Out Da Pen and Everything. Also he and Irv Gotti have relaunched Murder Inc Records. (Murder Inc-which changed its name to The Inc for a while- had various issues, including having links to criminal activities). Ja is said to have been working on an 8th album called Renaissance Project but it has no release date so far.

Traditional Fijian Dance

Today I thought I'd post another dance video, this time of traditional Fijian dancing. Fiji is a country in the South Pacific (near New Zealand). I used to live there when I was little. I don't remember seeing any traditional dancing but it would have been fun to have seen a performance!

This video is from the 9th Festival of Pacific Arts in Palau in July 2004. The performers are from the Kadavu Island Group and the Rotuma Island Group. The last two groups are mostly singing with some dancing. Hope you enjoy it! :)

Here is another video of performers doing Meke (traditional Fijian dance):

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Smoke Drink, Break Up by American singer, rapper and dancer Mila J. Mila (real name Jamila Akiko Chilombo) is also known as Jappollonia. She is the older sister of Jhene Aiko.

As a child Mila appeared in the Prince video Diamonds and Pearls. As a member of a dance troupe called Innocence, she performed as a backing dancer for boyband Immature (now IMx) in the 90s and went on to join two girl groups in her teens, Gyrl and Dame Four. She's also known for appearing on a song with Omarion from B2K.

In 2006 Mila signed to Motown Records and launched her solo career with 3 singles including Good Lookin' Out featuring IMx member, solo singer and actor Marques Houston (Roger from Sister Sister! lol). She planned to release a debut album called Split Personality but the plans fell through.

Mila took a break after that, returning in 2012 with a mixtape she made herself. She signed to Motown IDJ again and released the single Smoke, Drink, Break-Up in March. It…

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Vendetta by Deligma. They are a progressive electro metal band from Tasmania in Australia. The band members are singer Dylan Smith, Simon Jeffrey, who plays the guitar and drummer Guy Jeffrey. (Maybe the last two are brothers?). They originally had more members, according to their info on Unearthed the others were Dave Venter, who played snyths (synthesizer) and bass player Simon Gale but only 3 are listed on their Facebook page now.

Deligma released their debut EP Forever Faded in June 2011 and are working on a full length album. Vendetta is on Forever Faded.

I first heard this as part of my 1000 Songs challenge. I tend to prefer metal bands with female singers but I like this song.

I couldn't get the video to post on here, so go to this link to watch it:

Belly Dance Videos

I haven't posted anything belly dance related for ages, so thought I'd post a couple of videos today. :)

The first one of is Asia Global Belly Dance Competition 2009's 3rd Place winner (in the Traditional category) Wen Yu. I've had this video saved on my old YouTube account for a long time. Wen Yu is a good dancer and I love her costume, blue is my favourite colour. :)

Wen is from Taiwan and she's dancing to Enta Omri by Oum Kalthoum (Ellie Atieh remix).

The winner was Fatema from Singapore, you can view her video here:

The Asia Global Belly Dance Competition is part of the Singapore Street Festival. For more information on this year competition you can visit this site:

The second video is a Turkish belly dance by Didem (famous Turkish dancer). Egyptian dance tends to be more "grounded" than Turkish, the Turkish type can be "bouncier" and some people dance in hee…

This week's video is Closer to Death by Polish gothic metal band UnSun. The group was formed in 2006 by Maurycy Stefanowicz (known as "Mauser") who was previously a guitarist in the death metal band Vader and his wife singer Anna Stefanowicz (known as "Aya"). The original band name was Unseen. Bass guitarist Filip "Heinrich" Halucha and drummer Wawrzyniec "Vaaver" Dramowicz completed the group. However they later left and were replaced by guitarist Patryk Malinowski (known as Patrick) and drummer Wojtek Blazowski (aka Gonzo).

UnSun have released two albums to date, The End of Life (2008) and Clinic For Dolls (2010). Closer to Death is from The End of Life.

UnSun haven't released anything for a long time but according to posts on their Twitter Aya has had long term problems with her health and vocal cords. Her condition is now improving and they're currently working on their new album.
