Teen Mom + Unexpected Round-up

Season 4 of the reality show Unexpected is currently showing in the UK, and also Season 9 of Teen Mom OG just started, so today I'm featuring both shows on the blog. There is a round-up of previous posts, plus info on the new series and some updates. 

Note: If you're not familiar, both shows follow pregnant teens and their lives as parents. Teen Mom is a spin-off of 16 and Pregnant and there is now a franchise which includes the shows Teen Mom 2, Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant, and international versions such as Teen Mom UK.  Unexpected is TLC's version. A new season of 16 and Pregnant was also on recently (the first since 2014!) so I'll share my post on that too.  :)

S9 of Teen Mom OG is on at the moment. We'll see how Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood, and more recent additions Cheynne Floyd and Mackenzie McKee (formerly of the short-lived Teen Mom 3) are coping during the pandemic, as well as dealing with their personal issues.

S4 of Unexpected is showing in the UK at the moment. I think it's in a couple of parts because it's taking a one-month break in the US. 

The current cast of Season 3 features 3 new girls, plus Tyra Boisseau (the only one to come back from S3) and Lilly Bennett, who starred in S1. 

Tyra has daughter Layla with her (now ex) boyfriend Alex Wilson. Layla turns 2 next month. Tyra has moved away for college but is missing Laya, and also finding the distance puts a strain on her and Alex's relationship.

Lilly has daughter Aaliyah, 3, with her ex James and gave birth to her second child, son Lawrence Bishop IV in November. The dad is Lilly's new boyfriend, also named Lawrence, 19. Viewers will see her pregnancy on the show. (In the UK we will see her in next week's episode).

We also got to see an update on Hailey Tomlinson, who was in S3. Tiarra Boisseau, (Tyra's sister who is also in the last series) went to visit Hailey and their children played together There was a lot of drama last season when Hailey's daughter's father Matthew left her for her best friend (also named Hailey), and had a baby with her too!

 

New Girls: 

Jenna Ronan

16-year-old Jenna from Altoona, Pennsylvania, is pregnant by her boyfriend Aden Albright. She lives with her dad and stepmum. Her dad is supportive and often gives Jenna what she wants, including a car for her birthday! There are issues with Jenna's parents, since her dad and her mum don't get on, which affects things like having one big baby shower with all the family. 

Jenna gave birth to son Luca last June.

Myrka Cantu

Myrka, from Harlingen, Texas was 15 when she got pregnant by her boyfriend Ethan Ybarra. Her mum Liliana was greatly disappointed because it was the one thing she didn't want Mykra to do, and kicked her out of the house. Luckily Ethan's parents stepped in and have been supporting the couple.

Mykra had a daughter in summer last year.

Reanna Cline

Reanna also became pregnant at 15. She is from Wichita, Kansas and currently lives with her mum. Her relationship with her baby's father Taron Ward isn't good, since she says he cheated on her (although he insists that they were on a break at a time.). Taron wants to work out custody arrangements, but Reanna is finding it hard to overcome her anger towards him.

In yet more baby news, Lexus Scheller who starred in S1 and 2, is expecting her 2nd child in September. The baby will be her first with her boyfriend of a year Isaiah Norwood, and a sibling for Scarlet, 3, Lexus' daughter with her ex Shayden Massey. New J.Lo and JoJo Music

Two singers I like, Jennifer Lopez and JoJo have new music out, so today I'm sharing it on the blog! Jennifer Lopez- Baila Conmigo First up is Jennifer Lopez, whose new song is the Spanish language Baila Conmigo (Dance with Me). It's a cover of the 2018 single by Dayvi featuring Kelly Ruiz . New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. Season 2 saw the departure of Lilly and the addition of 3 new pregnant girls and their partners- Laura Barron and her boyfriend (now husband) Tylor Stawmyor who have son Lucas (and have since had another baby , a 2nd son, who is named Leo),
