Teen Mom: Young Moms Club

There's a new addition to the Teen Mom universe! New series Teen Mom: Young Moms Club has just started in the US and is due to start in the UK next week. It's slightly different though, since it started out as reality series Pretty Little Mamas (I don't think we ever got that in the UK before) which was shown late last summer. 

It's now been re-branded as part of the Teen Mom franchise, which also consists of Teen Mom OG (Original Girls), Teen Mom 2, the short lived Teen Mom 3 (which Briana DeJesus originally starred in before joining TM 2 in 2017, Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant and international versions such as Teen Mom UK.

Young Moms Club follows the lives of  6 friends- Heather, Nikki, Chandlar, Nicole, Cheyenne and Alyssa who live in San Diego, California. If you haven't previously seen Pretty Little Mamas (like me), then you can read more about the mums below. :)

 

Heather Miinch

Heather, 22, had her first baby, son Levi with high school boyfriend Taylor, aged 18. They're now married and she's pregnant with their second child (another boy). Heather is launching a hair and beauty business while Taylor purses his career as a race car driver. Pregnancy has been rough for Heather since she suffers from the condition hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy).

Chandlar Walby

23 year old Chandlar was also pregnant with her 2nd child during the time of filming.  She has 6 year old daughter Aubrey with her ex James, who was paralysed after a BMX accident. Her current boyfriend is Aaron and father of her son Jaxson, he has problems with drugs and alcohol, and Chandlar's relationship with her mum and friends has suffered due to them not getting on with Aaron. She has become estranged from the other girls, but as we'll see on the programme she would like to become close to them again.

Nicole Pleskow

Nicole is a single mum to her daughter Noelle, 6 and while filming she had a boyfriend named Michael.

Alyssa Myers (nee Abrenica)

Alyssa, 25, has son Kayden, 4 with fiance Brandon Myers and on the show we will see her planning their wedding and studying to become a nurse. Her mum was diagnosed with brain cancer during filming and sadly died in October 2017.

Cheyenne Latu

24 year old Cheyenne and her husband Teli, have 4 year old daughter Kiele, and 2 year old son King together. According to FamousBirthdays.com the couple met in Hawaii. On Young Moms Club well see Cheyenne trying to persuade her mum to let them rent her house, even though they're struggled with rent in the past.

Nikki Elise Hussey

Model Nikki, also 24, has daughter Alaia, 2, with her ex-boyfriend Ryan. While the other girls have known each others since high school, Nikki is a more recent friend. She's originally from Singapore and moved to San Diego at 18 to go to college there.

 Only 2 episodes of Pretty Little Mama were shown before it got cancelled, and it's  been compared to more heavily scripted shows such as The Hills. If you go to the Starcasm post, you can see the two trailers (for Pretty Little Mamas and YMC) and see the difference between how the girls are portrayed. It will be interesting to see how the show fit in with the other TM ones.

Ratings in America haven't been too good so far, but may pick up. :) Sometimes TV shows improve as time goes on. I remember when I first saw the Australian teen TV series Heartbreak High years ago I thought it was awful, but I liked it much better later!

P.S. Did anyone watch the American reality series Pretty Wicked Moms? I used to watch that and the original Pretty Little Mamas makes me think of a younger version! lol. It only had one season (or series as we also call it in the UK). Seems weird that it was as long ago as 2013! I also watched the Australian reality show Yummy Mummies the other year.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
