Dance Videos

It's been ages since I've written a general dance videos post (I think not since last year's round-up). I've mostly done K-pop in Public or V-pop and P-pop etc. this year. So today I'm sharing some videos from a variety of genres. :) 


[KPOP IN PUBLIC | UK] KISS OF LIFE- STICKY- Ngọc Đầu bảo nè

First up,  some K-pop in Public! This is a cover of Sticky by Korean girl group KISS OF LIFE. It came out in July and has a lovely, summer video. I'm already missing summer! 

The cover is uploaded on the channel of Ngọc Đầu bảo nè, who is based in the UK. The video premiered on 12st August and the dancers are Han, Janet, LouLou, Felix and Zoey. They did the cover with an extra member(5 instead of 4) which is cool!

K-POP IN PUBLIC | ONE TAKE 'STICKY' Kiss of Life Cover by CHOOM DANCE CREW

Here is another cover of Sticky. This one is by CHOOM CREW, a dance crew based in Syndey, Australia.

The video was filmed last month and premiered on 12th August, which is actually winter in Australia. But the Chomies said they were "bringing the summer fever"! The dancers are Zoe as Belle, Maddy as Julie, Grace as Natty and Olivia as Hanuel.

DANCE IN PUBLIC | ONE TAKE' WOKE UP' XG Cover- CHOOM DANCE CREW

Next, more Dance in Public. This is a cover of Japanese girl group XG's  WOKE UP. As I've said before, while they are Japanese, they are considered a global group, their creation was based on the K-pop format and they mostly sing in English. So their dance cover videos tend to be listed as "Dance in Public" (and sometimes J-pop in Public or K-pop in Public). :)

WOKE UP was XG's 5th single, released in May. A remix was also just released yesterday (20th September). The group's 2nd mini album AWE is due out in November, so I look forward to that. 

This cover is also performed by Choom. The dancers are Grace as Maya, Zoe as Harvey, Mona as Cocona, Charmaine as Jurin, Olivia as Chisa, Sophie as Juria and Catherine as Hinata.  The video premiered on 6th August.

Simple Amapianio Dance Moves- Tutorial by Jennifer Anthony

Now here is some African dance. This is an amapiano dance tutorial by Jennifer Anthony. Amapiano is a South African music genre. 

In this video (which was uploaded in January), Jennifer teaches us some simple dance moves, including the Vosho, the pouncing cat and Umlando. The last one actually makes me think of a belly dance move, kind of like a hip drop or a figure of eight.

Asalaam-E-Ishqum Dance by Sonali (short)

Finally, here is a dance by Indian dance choreographer Sonali Bhaduria of LiveToDance with Sonali. It's to the song Asalaam-e-Ishqum from the 2014 Bollywood film Gunday. Although the movie was released 10 years ago, I think the Asalaam-E-Ishqum song (and dance) has been trending recently.

This is a YouTube short and was uploaded a few days ago (on 17th  September). It features Sonali and two backing dancers.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
