It's Eurovision season again! It always seems to come round quickly, lol. The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the UK for the first time in 25 years!! We last won in 1997's contest, with Katrina and the Waves'Love Shine a Light (so we hosted the following year).
The UK did not actually win last year but came second with Sam Ryder's SPACE MAN. Still, it was very different to coming bottom in 2021! The 2022 ESC was won by the Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania. However, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine they are unable to host this year. The semi-finals and the final will take place in Liverpool and will be a collaboration with Ukraine.
Back in 2017, I wrote a round-up all of my previous Eurovision posts on the blog (I first started writing about Eurovision back in 2012!). You can see that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2017/05/eurovision-round-up.html
It's now been 6 years since I wrote that, so today I'm doing a round-up off all the posts on the blog since then. :)

And how here are the 2023 entries from the UK and Ukraine!
Mae Muller- I Wrote A Song (UK)
Singer and songwriter Mae Muller (full name Holly Mae Muller) is representing us with I Wrote A Song. She started writing songs as a child and got her first taste of fame as a child, when she appeared in the music video for Mika's 1997 single Grace Kelly.
Mae was discovered online by her manager, after uploading her music on SoundCloud and videos on Instagram. She released her debut EP After Hours in February 2018. She went on to release her second EP in September that year and also signed to Capitol Records UK in 2018.
In 2019 Mae released her debut album Chapter 1. She also brought out another EP, No One Else, Not Even You in November 2020. Her singles include Therapist, So Annoying, Better Days (with NEIKED and Polo G), American Psycho (with Marshmello and Trippie Redd) and I Just Came To Dance.
I Wrote A Song is Mae's latest single (released on 9th March, as well as being a Eurovision entry). It's a dance/pop song about channelling her anger towards a cheating ex into creativity. The result is that she "wrote this song"!
I think that this suits the vibe of Eurovision (although very different to last year's entry!). I can't see it winning to be honest but it's a better standard than what we've sent some years, lol. Mae has put the effort in.

TVORCHI- Heart of Steel (Ukraine)
Ukraine's entry is Heart of Steel by TVORCHI. They are an electronic duo made up of producer Andrii Hutsuliak and singer Jimoh Augustus Kehinde (known as Jeffery) who met at university. Their name means "Creatives" in English.
TVORCHI released their first single Slow in November 2017 and their debut album The Parts in February 2018. To date they have released 3 more albums- Disco Lights (2019), 13 Waves (2020) and Road (2020). Their singles include Slow, Molodist, Believe, Bonfire, Mova tila and Falling.
Heart of Steel is TVORCHI's latest single, in addition to being Ukraine's entry. It's a dance electronic song with mostly English lyrics and some Ukrainian ones. The song has a good beat and overall "powerful" vibe. I think it will do well. :)
This is the Eurovision Version video.
