In March I started a series about Asian groups. In the first post I featured Filipina girl group KAIA. You can read that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/03/asian-groups-filipina-girl-group.html
Today I'm featuring another girl band from the Philippines- 4th Impact. :)
4th Impact is a P-pop (Pinoy Pop) group made up of 4 members who are also sisters- (in order of age) Almira, Irene, Mylene and Celina Cercado. They formed the group in 2001 after being encouraged by their aunt and started out by competing in local talent shows. They also performed at festivals and appeared on TV shows in the Philippines, which included a regular slot on Sarah G Live
The group went through several name changes, (having originally called themselves after their surname) before settling on 4th Impact.
In 2008 the girls brought out an EP and went on to release their debut album The Cerrado Sisters: Unstoppable! in 2013. However, neither release sold that well.
4th Impact's big break came in summer 2015 when they took part in Series 12 of The X Factor UK. The year before they had competed in the South Korean talent competition Superstar K6 and done quite well before being eliminated in the 3rd week (coming 8th). They decided to try again with The X Factor and were very successful.
After coming 5th on the show, the group went on to tour with The X Factor UK and then by themselves in the UK and internationally. They also returned to the Philippines to perform in 2016.
In January 2017 4th Impact released their official debut single Unleash the Diva, which was a hit. A year later they sang the official theme song for the Filipino comedy film Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes.
To date they have brought out 7 more singles, including D'Nah Nah (Shaky Bum Bum) with Tony Valor, K(No)w More, Dance With Me, Here We Go and Tapat Sa'yo'. They released their 2nd single album Here We Go in March last year. They haven't released any original music lately but have just uploaded a cover version of Miley Cyrus' Flowers on YouTube.
Here We Go
This is Here We Go. It's the title track from their 2nd single album and both were released in March 2022.
The upbeat pop song is a mixture of Filipino and English language. The music in the background reminds me a bit of Korean girl group Red Velvet's RBB (Really Bad Boy)! A bit slower though, I think.
This is the official music video. Click "Subtitles/closed captions" for English subtitles! :)
Tapat Sa'yo'
And here is their latest single, Tapat Sa'yo'. It's a ballad with a gentle vibe.
This is a visualiser. English subtitles are also available.
