The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest is tonight so here is the 2nd of my annual posts! I also did two "mini countdown" posts this year. You can read them below:
Eurovision Countdown- Past Contestant Hadise: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/04/eurovision-countdown-past-contestant.html
Eurovision Countdown- ASC Contestant AleXa: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/04/eurovision-countdown-asc-contestant.html
Countdown to Eurovision 2022!: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/05/countdown-to-eurovision-2022.html
For the past few years, I've just watched the semi-final that the UK can vote in because it can get boring if you've seen all the acts before the night of the final. And then I watch the acts from the other semi-final that didn't get through online later. This time I watched the 2nd Semi-Final although I did see some of the first one too, similar to last year. So, here are my favourites of 2022! :)
Andromache- Ela (Cyprus)
Cyprus' entry Ela by Andromache was my favourite song. I voted for it in the second Sem-Final but it didn't get through. I think that the performance could have been better but it was definitely my kind of song! I look forward to checking out more of her music in future. :)
Andromache (full name Andromache Dimitropoulou) is a Greek singer who was born in Germany to Greek parents, then moved to Greece aged 10. She started her career by competing in the second series/season of The Voice Greece in 2015, going on to sign to Pannik Records. She brought out her first single Το φεγγάρι (To feggri or "The Moon" in English) in 2017.
Na Soun Psema was Andromache's breakthrough single, released in 2019. She was chosen to represent Cyprus in Eurovision.
Ela was co-written by Arash. I presume it's the same one who was Azerbaijan's 2009 Eurovision entry.

Random fact: Cyprus' 2018 entry Eleni Foureira is also signed to Pannik Records.
Vladana- Breathe (Montenegro)
I liked Montenegro's entry too, Breathe by Vladvana. She didn't get through either though. I thought it was quite a unique song.
Vladana (full name Vladana Vučinić) has a primary and secondary education in music and also a journalism degree. She debuted on TV when she took part in a national karaoke show in 2003. She has twice previously made a bid for Eurovision, entering the Serbian and Montenegrin selection competition Montevizija in 2005 and 2006.
Vladana released her debut album Sinner City in December 2010. Her singles include Ostaćeš mi vječna ljubav, "Samo moj nikad njen" (her Montervizija 2005 entry), Bad Girls Need Love Too, Sinner city and Breathe (her Eurovision entry).
She also launched the online fashion magazine Čiviluk in 2015.
Breathe is an English language song. It is about a family ordeal that Vladana went through.

And here are a few more I liked:
LPS- Disko (Slovenia): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1tFqoflsT8
A disco song by teenage pop band LPS (their name stands for "Last Pizza Slice!). It's about the sad story of Filip (the band's vocalist) being dumped by his girlfriend at a disco! This was in the first semi-final and didn't qualify.
Brooke That's Rich (Ireland): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq2AJrWm04s
A catchy, upbeat song from the 2nd semi-final, about moving on from a lover and focusing on yourself. Unfortunately, it didn't get through either.
Jérémie Makiese- Miss You (Belgium): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALG5vfm3ktY
Another one from the second semi-final. This has a good beat and I think Jérémie has one of the strongest voices in the competition. He did qualify, so you will be seeing him tonight!
I'm looking forward to hearing/watching Spain's entry, SloMo by Chanel. I've seen a preview but am saving the full performance for the final. And good luck to our entry Sam Ryder with SPACE MAN! :) (Anyone else think of Babylon Zoo when they hear that title?! lol #nostalgia)

Plus:
K-pop singer AleXa won the first American Song Contest with Wonderland on Monday (9th May)! For more on her, see the Eurovision Countdown- ASC Contestant AleXa post linked at the top of the page, or click here. Check out her performance at the final here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQAx89D4e8s
Hope you liked the post! :) Who do you think will win Eurovision?
The Grand Final is tonight (Saturday 14th May) at 8pm BST/9pm CEST. In the UK it will be shown on BBC1.
P.S. I'm trying out ads on the blog. Please bear with me as I work out where best to place them. I don't want them to be everywhere because that gets annoying! lol. Thank you. :)
