It's Eurovision season! The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Saturday 12th May in Lisbon, Portugal, since Portugal won last year with Salvador Sobral's Amar Pelos Dois. (How is it almost a year since he won?! Feels like yesterday!). Next week I'll do a more in-depth post, but for now here are a few Eurovision related links. :)
Back in February the UK held our Eurovision selection contest Eurovision: You Decide and the winner was SuRie who will enter with the song Storm. Read more about SuRie and her entry here: https://eurovision.tv/story/surie-to-represent-the-united-kingdom-eurovision-2018
Here is my Eurovision Round-up post from last year, listing every year's post up to 2016:

And here is 2017's post: https://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/eurovision-faves-and-past-contestant.html
Like last year, I'm only going to watch the Semi-Final that the UK can vote in (the 1st one this year), otherwise it gets a bit boring on the night of the Grand Final because I've already seen all the acts! But I had a look at one video, for Cyprus' entry Fuego ("Fire" in Spanish) sung by Eleni Foureira.
Eleni is a singer and actress who was born in Albania and moved to Greece as a child. She started out in Greek girl group Mystique and launched a solo career in 2010 with her self titled debut album. To date she has released 4 albums- Eleni Foureira, Ti poniro mou zitas (2012), Anemos agapis (2014) and Vasilissa (2017). She's currently one of Greece's biggest popstars.
Helena (Elena) Paparizou who won Eurovison for Greece in 2005, was reportedly asked to represent Cyprus this year but in the end Eleni was chosen. She has attempted to represent Greece several times but not been chosen, so it must be exciting for her to be Cyprus' entry. :) Fuego is the type of song I like, and seems like a "Eurovision" song to me. (Some of them don't seem to fit the contest at all!).
