T-pop/Dance in Public Videos

In the past couple of years T-pop (Thai pop) has been growing in popularity internationally and is also becoming more popular in the cover dance world. So these days there are more T-pop Dance in Public covers (dance covers of songs performed in public places), expanding beyond K-pop and J-pop.

I've written a few posts sharing T-pop in Public videos, most recently last November and then in February. However, the Feb one also featured a GIRLSET cover so here is my first all-T-pop post of the year! I've called it "T-pop/Dance in Public Videos" because some videos are listed as Dance in Public. They're all T-pop/Thai songs though. :)

 

[TPOP IN PUBLIC] HUH? - PIXXIE | Dance Cover by WHYNOT From Hong Kong

First up is a dance cover of the single HUH? by Thai girl group PiXXiE. It was released in December. 

The cover is performed by WHYNOT, a K-pop cover crew from Hong Kong. The video premiered in January and features Alice as MABELZ, Heliey as PIMMA and Belle (who also has her own YouTube channel) as INGKHO. 

Note: I think that this video is only uploaded to Belle's channel.

[SEXY DANCE IN PUBLIC] Tobii  - 'BANANA' Dance Cover by B.T.B from Viet Nam

In my Dance in Public Videos in February, I shared a dance cover of Banana by Thai/Swiss rapper and R'n'B singer Tobii. It was the 4th single from his debut album Mr Saxo Love. Both the single and album were released in February.

The original dance cover is by onefourofive, a performance collective from Bangkok, Thailand. Quite a few of previous Tobii dance covers have been choreographed and performed by Thai dance studio MINIZIZE, often by Earth_prompen). He also choreographed this one. This dance cover is performed by B.T.B from Vietnam. It was uploaded in March. See the YouTube description box for the dancers' names and their Instagram accounts. :)

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] TOBII - 'BANANA' | Dance Cover by THE ETERNAL

Here is another cover of Banana, this time by The Eternal, also from Vietnam. The group was founded in September 2023 and follows a "multistyle direction with active, lively teenage members".

The video premiered in March. Check the YouTube info box for the dancers' names and Instagram links. :)

TOBII ' Tap Tap' | onefourofive Choreography

And finally, here is another Tobii dance cover, this time of  his single Tap Tap. It's also from Mr Saxo Love and is one of my favourite songs from the album. The single features Thai/British rapper and singer GAVIN:D, and was released last month.

This is another choreo by onefourfive. The Latin part (about 1 minute, 22 seconds in) was choreographed by kannudee_ and the rest by Earth Prompen. The video was uploaded on 16th May.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
