K-pop in Public- Girl Group Classics Round-up

Last year I wrote two posts sharing K-pop in Public (dance covers of Korean songs performed in public places) covers of older songs by girl groups. Today I'm doing a round-up (or more like a "mini round-up", lol) of past posts featuring girl group classic covers, plus a couple of new videos. :)

[KPOP IN PUBLIC ONE TAKE] AOA (Like a Cat) Dance Cover, from Taiwan- LIA 

First up is a dance cover of Like a Cat by AOA (generally considered a 3rd generation K-pop group). They debuted in 2012 but have been inactive since 2020.

Like a Cat was the lead single from the group's 2nd EP of the same name. Both were released in November 2014. 

The dance cover is performed by LIA and other dancers from Taiwan. See the YouTube info box for their names and Instagram info. :)

It's a one-take video (meaning it was filmed all in one go) and was uploaded in January.

[KPOP IN PUBLIC | TIMES SQUARE] BLACKPINK 'AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST' | DANCE COVER- itsyuqie

Finally, here is a new BLACKPINK cover! A 3rd-gen group, BLAKPINK debuted in 2016. After releasing their 2nd studio album BORN PINK in 2022, the girls took a break to concentrate on their solo careers. However, they made a comeback this year with their new EP DEADLINE, released in February. (The 1st single JUMP came out last summer.)

This is a dance cover of As If It's You Last, a stand-alone single released in June 2017. The cover is performed by itsyuqie (who dances as ROSÉ), an American based dancer and 3 other dancers- Anny as LISA, Alissa as JENNIE and Jasmine as JISOO.

The video was filmed in Times Square in New York and premiered in February.

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
