A couple of years ago I shared my favourite songs of 2022. Then I did the same last year, so I thought I'd make it an annual tradition! You can see my previous posts at the links below:

And now here are my fave songs from 2024! :)
Back in April, I wrote a post with my current favourite songs. So rather than repeating myself, I'll link it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/04/current-favourite-songs.html
A few of them had come out at the end of 2023.
And here are more songs I liked last year. :)
LE SSERAFIM- EASY
Korean girl group LE SSERAFIM released their 5th Korean single EASY in February. It was very popular and inspired a lot of K-pop in Public dance covers (see below!).
LE SSERAFIM was formed in 2022 and currently consists of 5 members- leader Kim Chaewon, Sakura (full name Miyawaki Sakura), Huh Yunjin, Kazuha (Namamura Kazuha) and Hong Eunchae. Their name is an anagram of "I'm Fearless".*
They originally had 6 members but Kim Garam left the group in July 2022. Garam, Chaewon and Eunchae are Korean, Sakura and Kazuha are Japanese and Yunjin is Korean American.
The group debuted in May 2022 with the mini album FEARLESS and the lead single of the same name. The mini album/EP broke records for a girl group debut on release. That October they released their 2nd EP ANTIFRAGILE and the lead single/title track.
Then in May 2023, LE SSERAFIM brought out their debut studio album UNFORGIVEN. To date they have released two more mini albums- EASY last February and CRAZY in August. They sing in both Korean and Japanese. Their other Korean singles are UNFORGIVEN featuring American musician Nile Rodgers, Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard's Wife, EASY, Smart and their most recent, CRAZY.
There are Japanese versions of FEARLESS, UNFORGIVEN (the Japanese version features Japanese singer Ado as well as Nile) and CRAZY. They also released the English language single Perfect Night in October 2023.
EASY was LE SSERAFIM's 5th Korean single and the lead track from the EASY mini album. It is one of their most successful singles so far, reaching No. 3 in the South Korean Circle Digital Chart and No. 1 in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. It also did well in America, becoming the group's first US Billboard Hot 100 entry and making Top 10 on the Billboard Global 200 Chart.
The song is a mixture of Korean and English lyrics, and there's also an all-English version. I bought the English version on iTunes last year, but like both. :)

And here is the official visualiser for the English version:

Karun- HOW FAR (Prod. GR! & Hook)
In May Kenyan singer Karun released HOW FAR. It's from her EP À Nu (her 3rd EP, I think), which came out in June. The EP is a collaboration with producer GR (real name Greg Escoffey) and Swiss producer Hook. The title is French for "bare" and refers to "giving a pure and true image of yourself without hiding anything, with no filters".
Other singles/songs from À Nu include REASON, MY PARADISE and WONDERING WHY featuring Ghanaian rapper and record producer M.anifest.
HOW FAR is an English language song. It's melancholy but gentle and relaxing, A YouTube commenter described it as "Kenyan lo-fi chill" and the comment was "loved" by Karun! This is the visual and really matches the song's chilled vibe.
Ayra Starr- Control
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr's song Control came out in September. It's from Ayra's 2nd album The Year I Turned 21, which was released in May.
I'm not sure if Control is an official single but the video for it was uploaded in September. This is the official performance video.

The Kid LAROI- Aperol Spritz
Finally, I also really liked Aperol Spritz, the latest single by Australian rapper and singer The Kid LAROI. It was released in October and I featured it as a Weekly Music Video in November: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/11/weekly-music-video_13.html
Hope you liked the post! :) What were your favourite songs of the past year?
