Asian Groups- Thai Boy Band + Indonesian Girl Group

This is the next instalment in my Asian Groups series, which shares music by East and South East Asian groups. Today's post is about ATLAS from Thailand and GLAS from Indonesia. I've previously featured an Indonesian girl group on the blog (V1RST) but it's my first time featuring a Thai boy band! :)

ATLAS

ATLAS is a 7-member T-pop (Thai pop) boy group formed by XOXO Entertainment. Their name comes from the Greek God Atlas and the maps (world atlas).

The members are leader Junior (real name Napat Osathai), Jet (Patpaiboon Opassuwan), Poom (Dechathorn Wanwanichkul), Nice (Vitchapol Somkid), Erwin (Supaklit Pennors), Muon (Nanon Nampeeti) and Tad (Thapana Chongkoirattnaporn. Erwin is Thai and French, and was born in Paris. The other members were born in Thailand. 

ATLAS debuted on 7th December 2021 with the digital single MAYDAY MAYDAY. They released their debut album ATLAS: The 1st Journey the following June. Their other singles include Lolay, My Treasure, Boyfriend and their latest, Lovefool.

GLAS (GLASS)

GLAS is a self-produced 4-member Indonesian girl group. Their music is I-pop/Indo pop with some dance influences.

Their name was originally GLASS and  stands for "Girls Loud And Super Strong'. However they dropped the last S and rebranded as GLAS when they left their record label Star Media Nusantara. The 4 girls represent 4 different shards of glass coming together to create a crystal.

There were originally supposed to be 5 members,  the top 5 contestants from Z-POP Dream Indonesia (part of the international music project Z-POP Dream which searches for Asia's next stars) but in the end they debuted with 4. The members are leader TRIARONA (full name Triarona Kusuma) who also  formed the group, DENISE (real name Denissa Fitri), EUGINE (Euginia la Vina) and PB (Phoebe Natalia). 

GLASS were supposed to debut in early 2020, but due to the pandemic they didn't release their first single till a year later. Their debut single MINE (with sickzombies) came out on 22nd January 2021. 

Their other singles include OUT, BLOOM and their latest, SWEET LIE. I don't think they've released an album yet.


MINE 

This is their debut single MINE, which was in collaboration with  Indonesian dance/bass music trio sickzombies (stylised in lower case).  It was released in January 2021. 

MINE is a dance/EDM song with Indonesian and English lyrics.  English subtitles are available on the video. :)




SWEET LIE 

And here is their most recent single SWEET LIE, which was released in January. It's a pop song with dance vibes and also a mixture of Indonesian and English.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
