Asian Groups- Filipina Girl Group

Last summer I wrote a post featuring two Filipino groups, boyband SB19 and girl group BINI. You can read that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/08/filipino-groups.html

I've also written about other Asian groups (East/Southeast Asian). I thought it would be fun to make a regular (or perhaps semi-regular like C-pop Saturday!) series, so today I'm featuring the Filipina girl group KAIA. :)

 

KAIA is a 5 member P-pop (Pinoy pop) group formed by ShowBT Philippines (like SB19) in 2021. The group name is from the Cebuano word "Kinaiya", a noun that describes  your inner character. The fandom name is ZAIA.

The members are leader Angela (full name Charlotte Angela Caperas Hermoso), her twin sister Charice (Charice Andrea Caparas Hermoso), Charlotte (Charlotte Erica Fransdel Pendon Secretario), Sophia (Sophia Alexandra Ogayon Mercado and Alexa (Alexandra Pelagio Averilla). There was also a pre-debut member called Joanna Marie Lara, who left the group in early 2022.

The girls released their pre-debut single KAYA in December 2021 and then made their official debut in April 2022, with the single BLAH BLAH. They have also brought out 3 more singles- Dalawa, TURN UP and their latest, 5678.

BLAH BLAH

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
