J-pop in Public Dances (2023)

I did also do a post featuring dance covers of Japanese girl group XG's songs in March. They are sometimes listed as Dance in Public though, since their songs have been mostly in English so far. See it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/03/dance-in-public-xg.html

I've featured K-pop in Public (Korean dance covers) more often because there are more of them. So I thought today it would be good to share some new J-pop in Public covers. :)


[J-POP IN PUBLIC TIMES SQUARE] STAYC- POPPY Dance Cover- Harmonyc Movement

First up is a dance cover of POPPY by STAYC. They are a Korean girl group but also release Japanese versions of their music (as quite a few K-pop groups do). The single came out last November. 

The cover is performed by American dance group Harmonyc Movement and the video was uploaded in January. It was filmed in Times Square in New York. The dancers are Mi as Seeun, Vanessa as Sumin, Olivia as Sieun, Vivian as Isa, Ka-Shya as Yoon and Leah as J.

[JPOP IN PUBLIC] &TEAM 'Under the skin'  Dance Cover |Philippines [DOC Studios]

Next is a cover of Under the skin, the debut single  by Japanese boy band &TEAM, which was released in November. 

The cover is performed by dancers from DOC Studios PH, a dance studio based in the Philippines. It was founded by Maritoni Aldonza, who started out as K-pop cover dancer and is now a choreographer and performer.  

The performance took place in Ayala Malls in Manila Bay (Korea Town) and features dancers  RIyurii as EJ, Sam (Fuma), Jacob (K), Paul (Nicholas), studio founder Maritoni as Yuma, Carlos (Jo), Miggy (Harua), Akie (Taki) and Drey (Maki). The video was uploaded in February.

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] XG LEFT RIGHT ONE TAKE DANCE COVER IN LONDON- 11YiYi

Finally, here is another XG dance cover, this time by 11YiYi a Chinese dancer who is now based in London and other dancers. The song covered is the girl group's single LEFT RIGHT, which was released in January, along with SHOOTING STAR. 

The video (which was uploaded in May) is a one-take, meaning it was shot all in one go. The dancers are Wanwan as Jurin, Yulia as Chisa,  Beca as Hinata, Chloe as Harvey, 11 as Juria, cici as Maya and y as Cocona.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
