More Summer Vibes

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :)

We're now getting into the swing of summer, so today I'm sharing some summer themed songs and videos!

Now here are some some more summer vibes! :)

Note: I'm currently getting some slight interference/flickering when playing videos on the blog. I don't know whether it's just my device (I can only view it on my mobile phone right now), but they should be fine on YouTube itself. :)


Ja Rule feat. Christina Milian- Between Me and You

First up, some classic R'n'B/rap! Between Me and You by American rapper Ja Rule (one of my favourite rappers along with LL Cool J!) and Christina Milian was released back in  June 2000. It was the first single from Ja's second album Rule 3.36. (and his second single overall), which came out in October that year. 

The video features beach and pool scenes, plus Ja Rule raps the line, "It's the last day of spring, see you first day of summer". I feel nostalgic for this era of music! 




SUPER*GiRLs- WELCOME *Summer Sky Peace!!!

Now for some J-pop! This is WELCOME Summer Sky Peace!!! (WELCOME Natzusora Peace) by SUPER*GiRLs (or Super Girls). They are an 11- member Japanese idol group and were formed in 2010 by Avex Trax, as part of the J-pop project iDOL Street.

The group operates a "graduation system" where the members leave when they get older/after so long (similar to what they were doing with Korean group NCT Dream at one point), so the core group is constantly changing. The first leader was Yasaka Saori, who graduated in February 2014.  They are currently on their 6th chapter and thre members' ages range from 14 to 26. 

I won't list all the  former members because this post would be too long! Lol. However, the current members are current leader Abe Yumeri,  Sakabayashi Kana, Kadabayashi Yuu,  Hagita Honoka, Takeuchi Nanami, Tanaka Cocona, Kamata Ayaka, Kashiwa Ayana, Kawamura Kana, Sakurai Hinata and Habuchi Karen.* 

SUPER*GiRLs debuted in December 2010 with the album Chouzetsu Shoujo, followed by their first single Ganbatte Seishun in April 2011. They have released 6 more albums- Everybody Jump! (2012), Celebration (2013), Super Castle (2016), Chouzetsu Gakken~Tomeki High Range!!!~ (2019), Chouzetsu Shojo COMPLETE 2010~2020 (2020) and Chouzetsu HAPPY~Minani Sachiare!!! (2022).

The group's most successful single to date is PuriPuri SUMMER Kiss and their latest single is Ribbon, which came out this month. 

WELCOME  was SUPER*GiRLs' 27th single and it was released in August 2021 (the video was uploaded in July).

Julia Wu- if only you 

Australian born Chinese singer Julia Wu released the song if only you (written in lower case) in September last year. It's an English language song with a relaxing vibe and the video features Julia on the beach.

Pheelz- Pheelz Like Summer 

Finally, this is Pheelz Like Summer by Nigerian record producer, singer and songwriter Pheelz. His real name is Phillip Kayode Moses and he's worked with stars such as Olamide and Tiwa Savage. He released his debut EP Hear Me Out in 2021 and is known for his singles One Life and the international hit Finesse featuring BNXN. 

Pheelz Like Summer is from Pheelz's 2nd EP Pheelz Good, which was released in February.  It's a  chilled Afrobeats song about how a lover makes it feel like summertime. The song came out in March when it was still quite a cold spring here, lol. But now it's July, it is actually feeling like summer!

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
