Last month I wrote a post featuring some new music for the new year. You can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/01/new-music-for-2026.html
Now we're in February, so here are some more new releases, from various genres. :)
Pia Mia- Underneath
Guam born singer Pia Mia brought out the single Underneath on 29th January. It was originally released unofficially 10 years ago but has now been officially released. (Perhaps inspired by the current social media trend "2026 is the new 2016"!)
Underneath is an R'n'B song with sexy lyrics! The original version was only 1 minute, 55 seconds but this one is a bit longer at 2 mins, 4 secs. There's only an audio currently.
B Young- Playdoh
British rapper and singer B Young released his latest single Playdoh on 30th January. It was this week's Weekly Music Video: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/02/weekly-music-video.html
ZAYN- Die For Me
Next up is some brand-new music from ZAYN (real name Zayn Malik). The British singer (former member of boyband One Direction turned solo star) is set to release his 5th album KONNAKOL on 17th April and Die For Me is the 1st single from the album.
KONNAKOL follows Zayn's previous album Room Under the Stairs which was released in May 2024. Its title refers to the practice of konnakol, which is the art of performing percussion vocally in Carnatic music (a type of South Indian music).
Konnakol originates from the Telugu language. It was inspired by Zayn's South Asian heritage (he has a Pakistani dad and an English mum). The album is accompanied by a tour which will take place later this year, in the UK, Brazil, the US and elsewhere.
Die For Me iz Zayn's first single since last October's EYES CLOSED, a collab with Korean singer (and mrmber popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK).JISOO. It's an emotional track about love and heartbreak, and came out yesterday (6th February).
88rising, 4EVE- Girls Like Me
Thai girl group 4EVE have teamed up with American record label/mass media company 88rising (which primarily represents Asian artists) for the new single Girls Like Me. It was also released yesterday.
Girls Like Me is an English language pop song about confident girls who refuse to be messed around with by boys!
King Promise & Mr Eazi- That Way
Finally, we end with some African music! This is a Ghanaian/Nigerian crossover by King Promise and Mr Eazi. King Promise (real name Gregory Promise Bortey Newman) is a Ghanaian singer and his music is a mix of Afrobeats, highlife (a Ghanaian music genre), R'n'B and hip hop.
Mr Eazi (real name Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibad) is a Nigerian singer and record producer, who has spent a lot of time in Ghana and founded the record label Banku Music, which features a fusion of Ghanaian and Nigerian music.
This isn't the first time that the two artists have worked together, having previously teamed up with British Nigerian singer and record producer Maleek Berry for the single Dabebi in 2018.
That Way is described as a "smooth Afrofusion song full of emotion and nostalgia". It's the 2nd release from King Promise and Mr Eazi's joint EP See What You've Done. The track samples Backstreet Boys' clasic 1999 single I Want That Way which is cool! It was released on 6th February.
Hope you enjoyed the post! :) What have you been listening to lately?
