P-Pop in Public Dances

As you'll know if you follow the blog, I've often shared Dance in Public (dance covers of song performed in public places) videos in recent years. I'd say that the most popular genre is K-pop in Public (Korean dance covers). I think that's where the trend started. J-pop in Public (Japanese) dances are starting to become more popular lately too. Also, there are some C-pop in Public videos. 

In the past couple of years, I've been coming across more dance covers of South East Asian songs as well. Last year I wrote a post featuring V-pop and P-pop in Public dances (Vietnamese and Pinoy/Filipino) but I don't think I've shared that many P-pop covers. So today's post is all about P-pop in Public! :)

 

[POP IN PUBLIC] BINI "Karera" dance cover by Principium || Philippines

First up is a dance cover of Karera by Filipina girl group BINI. It was released in September 2023 and was the first pre-release single from the group's debut EP Talarawan (released in March 2024).

The cover is performed by Principium PH. They are a cover group based in Manila, Philippines, with an interest in K-pop dance covers in particular. This was their first P-pop in Public BINI cover. The group was one of the most requested P-pop artists to be covered by Principum.

The video was filmed at the SM Mall of Asia By the Bay in Pasay and premiered last November.  The dancers are Antonette as Mikha, Blaire as Maloi, Cathy as Aiah, Christine as Sheena, Doris as Colet, Elai as Jhoanna, Gael as Stacey and Jea as Gwen.

[POP IN PUBLIC] BINI - KARERA Dance Cover by AMUSE PH | PHILIPPINES

Next up, another Karera cover. This one is by AMUSE PH, a K-pop cover group from Albay, Philippines. 

The video was uploaded last August and the dancers are Geraldine Raguin as Maloi, Aubrey Latagan as Sheena, Angelica Macasinag as Mikha, Ashley Joy Latagan as Gwen, Joymie Mabelin as Colet, Ashley Jane Regaspi as Jhoanna, Natalie Armena as Aiah and Nicole Bertillo as Stacey.

[PPOP in Public / ONE TAKE] BINI-  'Cherry on Top' Dance Cover- Zpectrum PH

Here is another BINI cover, this time to their single Cherry On Top, which came out last July. It was the 1st pre-release single from BINI's 2nd EP Biniverse (released in February).

The dance cover is performed by Zpectrum PH, an organisation consisting of aspiring dancers. They are a dance cover group from Lucena City, Quezon Province in the Philippines and were founded in 2022. The group's name is inspired by the word "Spectrum" and like a rainbow, they represent a diverse group of dancers.

This is a "one-take video (meaning it was filmed all in one go) and premiered last August.

[PPOP IN PUBLIC: ONE TAKE] BINI "BLINK TWICE" Dance Cover by ALPHA PH

And here is one more BINI cover! This one is a dance cover of their recent single Blink Twice. It was the 2nd pre-single from Biniverse and came out in February, just ahead of the EP.

The dance cover is by ALPHA. They are an independent girl group from Manila and also a dance cover team. 

This is a one-take video and was filmed at Ayala Malls in Manila Bay. It premiered on 30th March.

[PPOP IN PUBLIC | ONE TAKE] SB19 - 'GENTO' DANCE COVER | HORIZONE SINGAPORE

Now here's one from the boys! Here is a dance cover of GENTO by Filipino boyband SB19. It was the lead single from their 2nd EP Pagtagtag! and was released in May 2023, a month before the EP.

The cover is by HORIZONE, a dance cover crew based in Singapore. This is their first ever non K-pop project. The video premiered on 28th March and features SAB as Ken, MON as Stell, DANIEL as Pablo, DIONNE as Justin and DIYANA as Josh.

[P-POP IN PUBLIC NYC] KAIA - You DID IT DANCE COVER- SINTA

And finally here is a new P-pop cover of YOU DID IT by Filipina girl group KAIA, which came out last May. 

The cover is by SINTA, a New York/Washington DC based P-pop cover group. Their name is an old fashioned way of saying "Love" in the Philippines. This is the first group I've come across which exclusively performs Filipino covers, so that's cool! :)

The video was uploaded on 1st April and the dancers are Angela as Val, Charice as Amber, Alexa as Hina, Sophia as Rae and Charlotte as Rachell.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is The Way You Move by American singer JayDon . His real name is JayDon McCrary (his previous stage name was J.D. McCrary) and he started out as a child actor, appearing on a couple of episodes of American TV series K.C. Undercover  in 2015 and going on to voice Young Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King .  In January 2018, JayDon released his official debut single Inviting All of You, going on to become the youngest solo artist  to sign with Hollywood Records (part of Disney Music Group ) that summer. He also released the single My Name in August and his debut EP followed in April 2019. Last year, JayDon changed his stage name from J.D. McCrary to his birth name JayDon and released his first single under that name in November, Ah!
