This week's video is I know love by Canadian singer Tate McRae and featuring Australian rapper and singer (and Tate's boyfriend!) The Kid LAROI.

Tate started her career as a dancer aged 6 and went on to compete in competitions. She also took classes at her mother's dance company YYC Dance Project and learnt ballet at the Alberta Ballet Company's training school.

Tate had a successful career as a young dancer, which included winning awards, becoming a brand ambassador for dance shoes and appearing in a music video. She became more known internationally when she appeared in Season 13 of the American version of the reality TV series So You Think You Can Dance, at the age of 12 (nearly 13). She was the first Canadian finalist on the show.

In 2017, Tate started uploading videos of her singing her own original songs to her YouTube channel (which had previously featured mostly dance content). She released her first independent single One Day in 2017 and went on to release several other singles, which later appeared on The One Day LP (released in January 2021).

Tate signed to RCA Records in August 2019 and then released her debut EP All The Things I Never Said the following January. Her breakthrough came with the release of the single You Broke Me First, in April 2020. (That's the first song of hers that I heard.)

It went viral on TikTok and was successful both in Canada and internationally, reaching the Top 10 in charts in several counties including the UK, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands and Singapore. It was also her first single to make the American Billboard Hot 100 chart.

You Broke Me First ended up being the lead single from Tate's 2nd EP Too Young to Be Sad, which came out in March 2021. She released her debut studio album I Used to Think I Could Fly in May 2022. To date she has brought out 2 more albums- Think Later (2018) and her latest, So Close To What.

Some of Tate's hits singles are Greedy, Exes and It's OK I'm OK. Her other singles include Kids Are Alright, Rubberband, Working with American singer Khalid, 10:35 with Dutch DJ and record producer Tiesto, 2 Hands, Sports Car and her most recent, Revolving Door.

I know love is from Tate's 3rd album So Close To What, which was released on 21st February. I'm not sure if it's an official single though. There have been 4 official singles released so far- It's OK I'm Ok last September, 2 Hands (released in November), Sports Car which came out in January) and Revolving door, which was released alongside the album in February.

I know love is a pop song about the addictive nature of love and how overwhelming it can get. It's the first time that Tate and her boyfriend The Kid LAROI (real name Charlton Howard) have collaborated on music. They have been together for around a year, confirming their relationship in April 2024. LAROI's singles GIRLS and Aperol Spritz were thought to be about Tate.
