Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Kya Say? by Indian singers Sukriti and Prakriti, and Indian rapper, singer and film producer Badshah

Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar are twins. Both are playback singers for Bollywood films and their careers got started with Goti Song from Nasha and the title song of Boss in 2013. Prakriti also sang the title song of Tutiya Dil in 2012. Their older sister Akriti is a playback singer too.

In addition, Sukriti is known for the hit songs Pheli Baar from the 2015 film Dil Dhadakne Do and Kar Gayi Chull from Kapoor & Sons, which also featured Badshah (see below), Fazilpuriaand Neha Kakkar (no relation). Most recently she provided the female vocals for Jhoome Jo Pathaan, from the new movie Pathaan.

Prakriti's hits include Katra Katra from Alone (2015), the female version of Bheegh Loon from Khamoshiyan and Dil Ki Darji from Stree (2018). She recently was the playback singer for Ae Pagli from the 2022 film Maja Ma. Both sisters have also released non-film songs, including Mafiyan, the Indian remix of British singer Dua Lipa's single Levitating, Naari and Dobara.

Rapper, singer and film producer Badshah (real name Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia) is well known for his Bollywood/Hindi language music, and also releases Haryanvi and Punjabi songs. He got his start in the music business in 2006 as part of the hip hop group Mafia Mundeer (along with Yo Yo Honey Singh) and went on to launch a solo career. He released his debut Haryanvi song Kar Gay Chull in 2012 and it was later featured in the 2016 Bollywood film Kapoor & Sons (Sukriti also sang vocals; see above).

Badshah got his big break with the release of the Punjabi-Hindi hip hop single DJ Waley Baby with Aashta Gill, which came out in July 2015. In 2018 he released his debut album O.N.E- Original Never Ends. His latest album 3.00 AM Sessions came out on 7th February.

His other singles and film songs include the remix of Saturday Saturday from the 2014 Bollywood film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (which also featured the twins' sister Akriti), Wakjra Swag with Navv Inder (Punjabi), She Move It Like featuring Warina Hussain, Tarefaan from the 2018 film Veere Di Wedding, Genda Phool featuring Payal Dev, Paani Paani with Aastha Gill and Players featuring Karun Aujla and Devika Badyal.

Kya Say? was released last December. It's a Hindi language song (with a couple of English lines!). I think that Kya Say translates as "From what?" or "What you say?" in English. Maybe "Say what?" I couldn't find a consistent translation but "kya" is "what" in English. If you're a Hindi speaker, please let me know the correct translation! :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
