New Music for 2023- Bollywood/Asian

It's a new year, so here is some music to start off 2023! :) For the past few years I've done several posts featuring new music for the new year, in varying genres. You can read 2022's at the links below:

Today I'm sharing some new Bollywood, K-pop and C-pop! :)

Note: Although Bollywood is South Asian since it's Indian, I tend to feature it separately to East Asian music. That's why I've written "Bollwood/Asian in the post title.

 

Jhoome Jo Pathaan Song from Pathaan

First up is Jhoome Jo Pathaan Song from the new Bollywood film Pathaan. The video premiered on 22nd December but we're only halfway into January and the movie is due out later this month, so I'm including it! :) 

Pathaan sees superstar Shah Rukh Khan (also sometimes written as Shahrukh) play the title character, a spy/field agent who is called out of exile for a new mission. He teams up with a soldier (Deepika Padukone) to stop the private terror group Outfit X led by Jim (John Abraham), from destroying India. The film is set for release on 25th January, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu (the languages of Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood respectively).

The Jhoome Jo Pathaan video features Shah Rukh and Deepika's characters. The playback singers are Arijit Singh, Sukriti Kakar, Vishal and Sheykar (who make up the music duo Vishal-Shekar). Click "Subtitles/closed captions" on YouTube for English subtitles. :)

MONSTA X- Beautiful Liar

Next up is Beautiful Liar, the new single by Korean boy band MONSTA X. It's the lead single from their 12th EP Reason, which was released on 9th January.

The song is about being in a difficult relationship with a "beautiful liar" and came out on the same day as the EP.  English subtitles are available. :)

WayV- Good Life

Finally, this is Good Life, the latest single by WayV, the Chinese sub-unit of Korean boy band NCT. It's from their latest mini album Phantom, which was released on 28th December. 

Good Life is a Chinese and English language song. The video was uploaded on 8th January.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
