New Music for 2022- Bollywood

It's a brand-new year, so here is some new music to start off 2022! In the past I've done several posts in varying genres. You can read 2021's posts at the links below:

This year I'm starting off with Bollywood. :)

Baliye Re from Jersey

First up is Baliye Re from the upcoming Bollywood film Jersey.  It's a remake of the 2019 Tollywood (Telugu language) film of the same name and stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Talwar, a former cricketer who restarts his career aged 36, inspired by his son's wish for a cricket jersey.

Jersey was set to be released on New Year's Day (31st December) 2021 but has been postponed due to the rise of Omicron cases in India. I don't think a new release date has been announced yet.

The playback singers for Baliye Re are Sachet-Parampara (a musical duo consisting of married couple Sachet and Parampara Tandon (formerly Thakur), Stebin Ben and rapper Mellow D.  The video features Arjun and his wife Vidya (played by Mrunal Thakur).

Nikhita Gandhi- Phoonk Le

Next is Phoonk Le by Nikhita Gandhi. She is an Indian playback singer and songwriter who has sung for several Indian film industries, including Bollywood (Hindi), Telugu/Tollywood, Bengali (also called Tollywood) and Kollywood (Tamil language)

Her credits include the title track from the 2017 Bollywood film Raabta, Mithe Alo from Bengali movie Cockpit (with popular Pakistani singer Atif Aslam), Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe from comedy horror Stree (2018), Burjkhalifaa from 2018 horror comedy Laxmii (along with  composter-singer duo Shashi-DJ Khushi), Pilla Picture Perfect from Ranarangam (2019 Telugu/Tollywood film) and Najja from 2021 film Sooryavanshi (Bollywood).

She has also released the singles Ek Do Teen, Naach Meri Rani and Jhoota Lagda, and sung for TV.

Phoonk Le is Nikhita's latest single and was released on 10th January. (It's not from a Bollywood film.) Actress and TV star Nia Sharma stars in the music video.

Shreya Ghoshal- Uff

Next up is Uff by playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, a song about love, faith, hope and heartbreak. The music video features TV actors Mohsin Khan and Heli Daruwala, and came out yesteday.

Aashiqui Aa Gayi Song from Radhe Shyam

And finally, here is Aashiqui Aa Gayi Song from the new film Radhe Shyam. It's a romantic love story set in Europe during the 70s and stars South Indian actor Prabhas as lead character Vikramaditya, a palmist (palm reader), alongside Pooja Hegde as doctor Prerana.

Radhe Shyam is a multilingual movie, having been filmed in both Telugu and Hindi. Its original release date was last July, but it was pushed back due to the pandemic (as with Jersey; see above). It was supposed to be coming out yesterday (14th January) to coincide with the Hindu festival/holiday Sankranti. However, the release has been postponed again. No word on a new date yet.

Aashiqui Aa Gayi is sung by Mithoon and Arijit Singh. The video came out in December.

That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed the post. Since we've just started the year there don't seem to be many new releases out yet, but I look forward to sharing more new songs in the coming weeks. :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
