Weekly Music Video

Time for the first Weekly Music Video of the year! :) This is lose you (stylised in lower case), a duet by Nigerian singer and record producer CKay and French singer Ronisia

CKay (real name Chukwuka Ekweani) is a popular singer who is best known for his 2019 single Love Nwantiti. He started out in a group called cre8tive music and then launched a solo career, releasing the promotional single Bad Musician Bad Producer in May 2016 and singing to the Nigerian record label Chocolate City. He released his debut EP Who the F*ck Is CKay in September 2016.*

Update 22/1/25: Just got an antivirus warning (Malvertising) on the Chocolate City link above.

CKay's breakthrough hit in Nigeria was the single Container, which came out in March 2018. He released his second EP CKay the First in August 2019. The second single from the EP was Love Nwantiti which was released at the same time and did very well in Nigeria, going on to become a hit abroad in places such as the UK, mainland Europe, Latin America and Australia.

There is also a remix called Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah,) featuring Nigerian singer Joeboy (a protege of Mr Eazi) and Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene, which was released in February 2020.

In February 2021, CKay brought out his 3rd Ep Boyfriend (through the record label Warner Music South Africa) and his debut studio album Sad Romance was released in September 2022. His other hit singles include Beggie Beggie with Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, Emiliana and WATAWAI with Nigerian American singer Davido and South African rapper Focalistic. His latest single is By Now.

CKay's music is a mixture of Afrobeats, R'n'B, dancehall and Alté, and he describes it as "futuristic Afropop" and Emo-Afrobeat.

lose you is from Sad Romance. It's a mixture of English, French and Pidgin (I think) language. This is a live performance, part of Deezer Sessions, an exclusive programme from Deezer France. The video was uploaded in October.

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
