C-pop Saturday

Time for another C-pop Saturday post! This is a semi-regular series and the last one was in July. It's September already, the year seems to be going quite fast! Here are some (mostly) new Chinese songs. :)

BOY STORY feat. Jackson Wang- Too Busy

First up is Too Busy by Chinese boyband BOY STORY and featuring Jackson Wang. BOY STORY literally is a "boy band" having been mostly preteens when they started out! There are 6 members- leader Jia Hanyu, Li Zihao, He Xinlong, Yu Zeyu, Gou Ming Rui (stage name written Mingrui) and Ren Shuyang.*

The group was formed by South Korean record label JYP Entertainment (big in the K-pop world) and Chinese company Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME), starting out in September 2017 with the pre-debut The Real Project. They released their first single HOW OLD R U on 8th September that year, followed by the singles Can't Stop, JUMP UP and Handz Up in late 2015 and spring/summer 2018.

BOY STORY officially debuted a year later in September 2018, with the release of their first mini album Enough and the lead single, also called Enough. To date they have released 12 more singles including Oh My Gosh, Too Busy , WAI from the official soundtrack of Airbenders and Change; and several EPs and single albums including I = U=WE: Preface  (2020) and I = WE: I (2020). Their latest EP I=U=WE: U is set for release this month.

For Too Busy the boys teamed up with Hong Kong singer Jackson Wang (who is also part of K-pop boy group GOT7). It's from their 6th digital single album of the same name (part of the Growing Project)  and came out in July 2019.

BOY STORY- I=U-WE: U Track 1 'MONSTER' Dance practice

And if you want to see the boys these days, here is a dance practice video where they are dancing to new song MONSTER! They are aged 14 to 17 now.

MONSTER is from their EP I=U=WE: U, due out in 3 days (14th Sept). The EP is the 2nd in the WE trilogy (since the first one was a preface). The video was uploaded in August.

Casper True- Chinese title

This a new(ish song) by Casper True. It has a Chinese title but according to Google Translate it means "Are you embarrassed" in English. The song has a nice, laid-back beat.  It came out in July.

Also check out another Casper song fom July, HERO featuring C.Z: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9_W2Jb0Klk

Julia Wu- Split

This is Split,  the latest single by Australian born Chinese singer Julia Wu. It's a sultry Chinese R'n'B song and I believe it's about feeling split into two parts, due to a situation in your life. (Not 100% sure.) In the video Julia switches between singing for a love interest, to being in a hospital.

The video came out on 29th August.

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
