C-pop Saturday

Time for another post in my "semi- regular" C-pop Saturday series! The last one was in March. So here are some more C-pop songs. :)

Kris Wu- AURORA

First up is AURORA, one of the latest songs from Chinese Canadian solo singer (former EXO member) Kris Wu. It was released back in April and I featured it as a Weekly Music Video in May: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/05/weekly-music-video_20.html

Kris also released the official visualiser for BIG BOWL, THICK NOODLE on the same day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGxDxwJjMUc

Lexie Liu- Whenever

Chinese singer Lexie Liu released the lyric video for the song Whenever in April and I remember liking it the first time I heard. It's a nice chilled R'n'B song with a mixture of Chinese (Mandarin, I think) and English lyrics.

Whenever is from Lexie's latest album Metropolis, which came out last December. As with Metropolis, another single from the album, the video for Whenever has an English translation of the Chinese lyrics, and a Chinese translation of the English lyrics, which is cool. :)

Julia Wu- Summertime (Julia Wu Remix)

Last month I did a Summer Songs Round-up post and one of the songs featured was Australian born Chinese singer Julia Wu's Summertime Remix. The original song is by Japanese singer RIRI and Julia did an English and Chinese version. RIRI's version is also in the post. Check them out here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/06/summer-songs-round-up.html

See below for another song from Julia (no relation to Kris!). :)

Julia Wu & Chris Flow- Player

Julia teamed up with Chrisflow for the song player, released in May.

Julia also released the English language song Chill in June. Watch the lyric video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4e3yu0LBEQ

Hope you liked the post! :) What Chinese songs are you listening to currently?

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
