Last summer I wrote a post sharing some videos from Bollywood actor and film producer John Abraham's films. You can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/07/john-abraham-videos.html
I had planned to do a follow-up post because I'd only featured his movies up to 2013. So here it is, although not "soon-ish" as I intended!" lol.
Nas Nas Mein from Welcome Back
In 2015 John starred in crime comedy Welcome Back, alongside Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar as criminals gone straight Uday Shetty and Sagar (Majnu) Pandey. He plays Ajay (Ajju) Ghungroo, a "goonda" (local goon), who falls in love with Ranjana (Shruti Haasan), the half sister of Uday.
The video for Nas Nas Mein features John and Shruti. The playback singers are sibling music duo Meet Bros Anjaan featuring Shabab Sabri and Rani Hazarika. There's also a rap by Deane Sequiera.
Rehnuma from Rocky Handsome
Note: May contain a slight spoiler.
The following year, John played the lead in Rocky Handsome, pawn shop owner Kabir (the 3rd time he's played a character with that name, after Jism and Dhoom; see my first John post!). The film is based on the 2010 Korean movie Ajeossi/The Man from Nowhere.
Kabir keeps to himself but becomes close to Naomi (Diya Chalwad), the daughter of his next-door neighbour, bar dancer Anna (Nathalia Kaur/Nathalia Pineiro Kaur), who is also a drug addict. When gangsters kidnap Naomi, he sets out for vengeance.
Shruti Haasan once again co-starred with John, after acting together in Welcome Back (see above). She played his wife Rukshida, who was tragically killed while pregnant.
This is Rehnuma, a romantic song and video starring John and Shruti, likely showing flashback scenes (I haven't seen the film). The playback singers are Shreya Ghoshal and Inder Bawra (part of a composer duo, along with his brother Sunny).
RANG LAAL from Force 2
Also in 2016, John reprised his role as ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) Yashvardan, aka Yash, in the sequel to 2011's Force (see the first post). In Force 2, Yash teams up with RAW (the Research and Analysis Wing of the Indian foreign intelligence agency) agent KK (played by Sonakshi Sinha), to find out who is leaking information from inside the organisation.
This is RANG LAAL- India Strikes Back, the first song from the film to be released. John sang his own vocals for this one (Bollywood actors don't sing themselves that often), along with Dev Negi.
Dilbar from Satyameva Jayate
John later starred as cop killer Vir/Veer in the 2018 action thriller Satyameva Jayate. I featured the video for the new version of Dilbar (starring Moroccan Canadian dancer, actress and singer Nora Fatehi), in my Bollywood Round-up 2018- Part 1 post.
You can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/08/bollywood-round-up-2018-part-1.html
Bimar Dil from Pagalpanti
He went on to play Raj in the 2019 action comedy Pagalpanti. The song Bimar Dil from the film was a Weekly Music Video back in April 2020. See it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/04/weekly-music-video_15.html
Jim's Theme from Pathaan
The 2023 action thriller Pathaan saw John playing villain Jim, alongside Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as spy/field agent Pathaan and Deepika Padukone as solider Rubai, who team up to stop him.
I featured the video for Jhoome Jo Pathaan in my New Music for 2023- Bollywood/Asian post. John doesn't appear in that one, but you can watch it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/01/new-music-for-2023-bollywoodasian.html
Here is Jim's Theme from the film. The character is described as "Powerful, tough and menacing!" The singers (lead vocals) are Manya Narang and Riya Duggal (who is a member of Indian girl group W.i.S.H, along with her younger sister Simran).
Dhaage from Vedaa
Finally, Vedaa is one of Jon's newest films, released last August. It's inspired by true events and stars Sharvari (who was also in the recent horror comedy Munjya) as the title character, alongside John. Vedaa is a Dalit (Indian caste) law student, and is suffering because of caste discrimination (Dalits are considered the lowest in the caste system).
Vedaa wants to learn how to box, but is barred from it due to discrimination. However, she meets Major Abhimanyu Kumar (John), a man with a tragic past, who was court martialled by the Indian army for disobeying orders and killing a terrorist, and he helps train her secretly. Abhimanyu has vowed to be a protector and decides to help Vedaa find justice.
This is Dhaage. The playback singers are Raghav & Arjun and Raghav Chaitanya.
