Summer Vibes

Summer is in full swing now (especially after the heatwave this past week), so today I'm sharing some summer vibes! For the past couple of years, I've featured round-ups of summer themed songs on the blog. You can see them below:

thuy feat. P-Lo- inhibitions

inhibitions by American singer thuy (both song title and thuy's name are stylised in lower case) and featuring rapper P-lo was released back in April. I featured it as a Weekly Music Video in May and the video made me think of summer, so I'm including it in this post.

Pérola- Sincera

Angolan singer Pérola's latest single Sincera (released in April) also gives me summer vibes, due to the scenes of her and her lover on a boat and the beach! See it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/07/weekly-music-video.html

 

Ylona Garcia- Vibin

This is Vibin by Ylona Garcia. She is a Filipino-Australian singer and actress who started out as a support act for Filipino singers as a child/pre-teen. She also entered several singing competitions.

Ylona got her big break in 2015, after becoming a housemate in the second special edition of Pinoy Big Brother (the Filipino version of the reality show) and finishing as runner up. She went on to release her debut EP My Name is Ylona Garcia in August 2016 and has also appeared in several other TV shows.

Ylona was briefly part of teen pop group ASAP G! but ultimately ended up pursuing a solo career. Her singles include debut Dahan Dahan Dahan Lang, Walk in My Timbs featuring Jay R, Split Milk featuring Billy Davis, All That, Don't Go Changin and Vibin.

As well as signing to Filipino record labels, Ylona signed to 88rising (an American mass media company and record label that primarily represents Asian artists) last year. She is managed by PARADISE RISING, 88risiing's Filipino record label and is currently based in LA for her music career.

Vibin was released in June and the video suits summertime. :)

B Young feat. BNXN- OCEAN

And finally, this is OCEAN, the new single by British rapper and singer B Young, and featuring Nigerian singer BNXN. It's a laidback song with a video full of lovely beach scenes!

The video premiered in June.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
