More J-pop in Public Dances

Almost a year ago I did a post called J-pop in Public Dances which featured dance covers of Japanese songs performed in public places. K-pop in Public (dance covers of Korean songs) are very popular but there don't seem to be as many Japanese ones (which is probably because J-pop has not become as global as K-pop). I have also featured C-pop (Chinese pop) in Public dances too.

Today I'm sharing some more J-pop in Public videos. :)

 

[2X2X original song] Glorious

First up is a dance by Japanese boys group 2X2X, which is made up of 5 members- IORI, II, RYUKU, MASAHIRO and TAKERU. While they often cover K-pop and J-pop groups' dances (plus do vocal covers), this dance is to their own original song Glorious! :)

The video was uploaded in May.

Update 28/3/25: Unfortunately, several of 2X2X's videos have been removed or made private, so this one is gone. I'll update this if they ever upload it again.

[JPOP IN PUBLIC- ONE TAKE] XG- Tippy Toes- HUSH LA 

Next is a dance cover of Japanese girl group XG's debut single Tippy Toes which was released back in March. The cover is performed by HUSH LA, the Los Angeles branch of American dance group HUSH CREW, which originated in Boston.

Tippy Toes is an English language song but they are a Japanese group (although I think they are also considered global), so that's why it's included in J-pop in Public. :) This is a one-take video (shot all in one take) that premiered in July. The dancers are Kyla, Aaliyah, Cynthia, Jasmine, Hannah, Edel and Arianna. Check out the info box and video notes to see which members' parts they are covering throughout the dance.

[JPOP IN PUBLIC] NiziU 'Make You Happy' + Kep1er 'Wing Wing' JPOP MEDLEY- KM United

Finally, here is a J-pop dance cover medley by KM United. They are an Australian K-pop cover group who started out in 2011. The group was the first K-pop cover group in Melbourne and began with 5 members. They have now grown to more than a dozen.

For this video, KM United switched up their usual style, by covering the J-pop songs Make You Happy, by Japanese girl group NiziU and Wing Wing by Korean girl group Kep1er. Make You Happy was NiziU's pre-debut single and released in 2020 and Wing Wing is Kep1er's latest Japanese single, which came out in August.

The video was shot at the Crunchyroll Expo 2022 where KM United performed and was uploaded in September. The dancers are Jannie, Karine, Maddy, Winnie, Melissa and Rion.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
