New(ish) K-pop (and J-pop) Videos

It's been quite a while since I've done a K-pop post, so today I'm sharing some Korean videos (plus one Japanese one!). As with past posts I've called it "New(ish) because some videos are a bit older. :) 


D-CRUNCH- Addiction

First up is Addiction by boyband D-CRUNCH. They were formed in 2018 and the name is short for "Diamond Crunch, meaning their talent is strong enough to break diamonds. 

The group originally consisted of 9 members (6 rappers and 3 vocalists)- leader and main rapper O.V. (real name Kim Sang Chan), main vocalist Hyunwook (full name Ji Hyun Wook), Hyunho (Lee Hyun Ho), Chanyoung (Kim Chan Young), Jungseung (Park Jeong Seung, Dylan (full name Dylan Park/ Park Yeon Jae) and Minhyuk (Kim Min Hyuk), all rappers (although Dylan is also listed as a vocalist on the group's Kprofile, see below for link); and Hyunoh (Park Hyun Oh) and Hyunwoo (Baek Hyun Woo), the other vocalists.*

Hyunwoo left in 2020 and last November Minhyuk left and Dylan went on hiatus, so they are currently promoting as 6 members. 

D-CRUNCH released their debut single Palace and debut single album 0806 in August 2018, followed by their first mini album M112 (4colors) and lead single STEALER in November. To date they have brought out 4 more EPs and mini albums- M0527 (2019), Across the Universe (2020), Daydream (2021) and Addiction (2022). Their other singles include Are You Ready? and My Name.

Addiction is the group's latest single and is the title track from their new mini album, both of which came out on 25th March.

MAJORS- Salute

This is Salute by MAJORS. They debuted in 2021 as a 6-member group, with the single album The Beginning of Legend, which was released on 9th March, along with the title track/lead single Spit it Out. The full member line-up was main vocalist and main dancer leader Ida (real name Koh Chaeyoung), Bian (real name Yujiwon), Vita (Kim Jimin), Aki (Jang Minju), Suzy (Kim Suji) and Shinye (Gam Yerim).* However both main vocalist/main dancer Bian and main rapper/lead dancer Vita are said to have left the group.

To date MAJORS have brought out 3 more single albums- The Beginning of Legend- Rising Star, The Beginning of Legend- Shining Star (both released last year) and The End of Chaos (2022).

Salute is the lead single from The End of Chaos and was released on 28th March.

Bonus J-pop

THE BOYZ- SHE'S THE BOSS

Plus, here is a bonus J-pop video! It's the latest single from Korean boyband THE BOYZ and is from their second Japanese mini album of the same name. The title track  (a digital single) was released on 19th May and the mini album is set for release on 27th May.



Side note: I miss Kevin and Jacob on Simply Kpop! Although the new presenter Daehwi (from AB6IX) is nice too. :)

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is The Way You Move by American singer JayDon . His real name is JayDon McCrary (his previous stage name was J.D. McCrary) and he started out as a child actor, appearing on a couple of episodes of American TV series K.C. Undercover  in 2015 and going on to voice Young Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King .  In January 2018, JayDon released his official debut single Inviting All of You, going on to become the youngest solo artist  to sign with Hollywood Records (part of Disney Music Group ) that summer. He also released the single My Name in August and his debut EP followed in April 2019. Last year, JayDon changed his stage name from J.D. McCrary to his birth name JayDon and released his first single under that name in November, Ah!
