New(ish) J-pop and K-pop Videos

Since I'm a fan of both J-pop and K-pop, I thought today I would do a post featuring new videos from both genres. It's been a while since I did that, not since my 2019 round-up, I think! I've called it New(ish) because (like last year's New(ish) J-pop Videos), some are older. Includes double features for a couple of artists! :)

RIRI- Wheel of Fortune

First up is Wheel of Fortune, by Japanese singer RIRI. The title refers to the Wheel of Fortune tarot card and how it represents a turning point, and having the power to create your own destiny. RIRI was inspired to write the song after the recent changes in the world, which have led her to believe that we are in control of our destiny.

Wheel of Fortune is an English language song (there is also a Japanese version) and was released in May.

RIRI- Luv DejaVu

And here is RIRI's latest single Luv Dejavu which came out on 21st July. It's a summer song about staying positive despite still being under lockdown restrictions. Check out the info box on YouTube to read more about the song. :)

This is the English version but there is also a Japanese version.

BM- 13IVI

This is 13IVI by American rapper BM (real name Matthew Kim) from the Korean co-ed group KARD. It's from his digital triple single THE FIRST STATEMENT, which came out on July. THE FIRST STATEMENT is BM's first solo release, and also contains the songs Body Movin' and BROKEN ME.

The video was uploaded on 2nd July.

CAMO- Wifey

Next up is Wifey by South Korean rapper CAMO. Her real name is Park Chae-ryeong (or Chae-ryeong Park in Westen terms) and she is originally from Hong Kong, according to Kprofile. She debuted in March 2020 with the EP Ice and released her latest EP, Fragile this May.

Wifey came out in January.

CAMO- Fragile

And here is the music video for the single Fragile, a chilled R'n'B/rap song. It was released in June.

MONSTA X- KISS OR DEATH (preview)

Finally, this is KISS OR DEATH, the latest single by Korean boyband MONSTA X. This video is a preview that's only 1.38 minutes long. The full video is only on the Korean app/platform UNIVERSE, which is a shame. :( I believe the app is not available in the UK as yet, or quite a few other countries either.

Reminds me of how the Japanese record company AVEX (whose artists include Koda Kumi and formerly Namie Amuro) often doesn't release full music videos online, to encourage you to buy the CD/DVDs. But in that case, you can usually buy them on YESASIA.

The preview was released on 26th July.

Update 16/12/21: The full version of KISS OR DEATH has just been uploaded on YouTube! Here it is:

Hope you liked the post! I plan to feature more Asian music soon, probably K-pop first. :) What are your current favourite J-pop and K-pop songs?

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
