Time for a new instalment of my semi-regular series C-pop Saturday! This will probably be my last one of the year.:)


Diana Wang- Make You Feel

First up is Make You Feel by Dutch Chinese singer Diana Wang, a song with R'n'B vibes. It was released in August.

Rainie Yang-INDULGING

Here is INDULGING by Taiwanese singer Rainie Yang, who is also an actress and TV presenter. I think her full name is Yang Chen Lin (Yang is her surname/family name) and she is from Taipei. Rainie started out in the Taiwanese girl group 4 in Love in 2000 and was given the stage name Rainie. After the group disbanded, she moved into TV hosting and acting.

In September 2005 Rainie released her debut solo album My Intuition (Chinese title Ai Mei), in Manadarin. To date she has released 11 more albums, including Meeting Love (2006), Not Yet a Woman (2008), Longing For (2011), Delete Reset Grow (2019) and her latest LIKE A STAR, released in November 2020. LIKE A STAR marked her 20th anniversary in the music business. 

Rainie's singles include Youth Lies Within, Lesson in Love, Love is Love, Girls featuring Cyndi Wang, LIKE A STAR and INDULGING.

INDULGING was released in November last year and it's from the LIKE A STAR album. I think the Chinese title translates in English as "Drifting Bathroom". I like the fact that the song starts out like a ballad and then goes into dance/EDM.  If you click the subtitles option on YouTube, you can see English subtitles. :)

Kimberly Chen- always be my always

This is always be my always (written all in lower case) by Australian born, Taiwan based singer Kimberly Chen. The video premiered in October.

NICKTHEREAL- HEALTHY MIND

Here is HEALTHY MIND by Taiwanese singer NICKTHEREAL aka Nick Chou. It's actually an English language song (with the odd Chinese line), but I thought I'd include it. :)

HEALTHY MIND was released in September. Great beat and gives me summer vibes. (I'm feeling nostalgic for summer, especially since it's gone so cold right now!) The song reminds me of some old English song from the 90s, the style of singing (can't think of the group's name right now).

Please note that it contains swearing. :)


 

NICKTHEREAL- NEED YOU

And here's Nick's latest single NEED YOU. It's in English and Chinese, and the video premiered on 5th November. I love the cats in the video! :)

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year.
