Summer Songs Round-up

Today is the first official day of summer of the Northern Hemisphere. It's the Summer Solstice (also known as Litha) which occurs around 21st June every year. If you're interested in reading more about it, check out this Litha + Summer Inspiration post over on my other blog The Seasonal Life: https://livingseasonal.blogspot.com/2020/06/litha-summer-inspiration.html

For the past few years I've done posts featuring summer songs, so this year  I thought I would do a round-up of previous blog posts, plus share a couple of new ones. And later on in the summer I'll probably do a new post. Although this summer is likely to look different to previous ones, due to the coronavirus pandemic and resulting lockdowns/quarantines and restrictions still in place in many countries, hopefully we can still enjoy it.

So here's the round-up and I hope the songs get you inspired for summer. :)

My recent New K-pop Releases post features Chung Ha's Be Yourself, which is the song for the new Sprite Korea summer campaign: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/06/new-k-pop-releases.html

emPawa Africa & Mr Eazi 's I No Go Give Up On You has a nice, summery vibe: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/06/weekly-music-video_17.html

RIRI, KEIJU (prod. Nariaki Obukuro)- Summertime

Last May Japanese singer RIRI released the EP Summertime and the lead single of the same  name was used in an advert for the Japanese sunscreen brand Anessa. She teamed up with rap artist KEIJU (of hip hop crew KANDYTOWN) for the Japanese language track which was produced by Nariaki Obukuro.

Julia Wu- Summertime (Julia Wu Remix)

There is also a remix version by Australian born Chinese singer Julia Wu which was released last June. It's an English and Chinese version.

I can't post the music video directly on the blog but here's a preview:

Hope you like the post. :) Happy Summer! (Or Happy Winter to those in the Southern Hemisphere)!

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...
