It's Eurovision season again! This year's final will be on Saturday 17th May, a bit later than the past couple of years.
The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland, after Nemo won with The Code last year. The UK's entry is country pop girl group Remember Monday with What The Hell Just Happened?.
I normally write two Eurovision posts (and occasionally a couple of extra "mini countdown" posts), so here is the first one! Today I'm featuring previous Eurovision posts, plus a few new music videos from former contestants. :)

Past Contestants' Music Videos
Last year in my Countdown to Eurovision 2024! post, I shared the music videos for some Eurovision entries. For this year's post, I thought I'd share some new music videos from past contestants.
Kristian Kostov (2017 Bulgarian entry)
Bulgarian Russian singer Kristian Kostov entered for Bulgaria with the song Beautiful Mess back in 2017 (coming 2nd in the Grand Final), one of the youngest contestants that year. His was one of my favourite entries.
Visit this post to watch his performance: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/05/selection-of-eurovision-songs.html
Since then, I've periodically followed his career, and written two updates about him in 2020 and 2021 (plus featured his music in other posts). You can see the past updates below:

Az Sum Ti
Kristian's most recent single is Az Sum Ti, which came out in March. It was this week's Weekly Music Video: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2025/05/weekly-music-video.html
Silia Kapsis (2024 Cypriot entry)
Australian singer Silia Kapsis (full Vasiliki Silia Kapsis), who has Greek and Cypriot heritage, was Cyprus' Eurovision entry last year, with the song Liar. Similarly to Kristian, she was the youngest competitor for her year.
Silia's song was my favourite entry in the 1st semi-final and I voted for it. She got through to the final (I voted for her again on the night) and finished 15th (out of 26).
Visit my Eurovision 2024 Favourites post to see her performance of Liar in the 1st semi-final: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/05/eurovision-2024-favourites.html
Since taking part in Eurovision, Silia has released two more singles- Reg Flag, which came out last summer and her latest, What's Your Name Again.
What's Your Name Again
This is What's your Name Again, It's Silia's newest single and came out on 6th April. It's an upbeat pop song with dance and R'n'B vibes, about having fun and focusing on yourself, rather than focusing on a man.
What's Your Name is reminiscent of songs from the 2000s. Nostalgia, lol.

Kim Seri/AleXa (ASC 2022 Winner)
American singer Kim Seri aka AleXa, won the first (and to date only) American Song Contest (the American version of ESC) which took place from March to May in 2022.
Her birth name is Alexaundra Christine Schneiderman and she started her career in the Korean music industry, before entering ASC, both under the stage name AleXa. She represented her home state of Oklahoma and won with the song Wonderland.
Check out my previous posts on her here:
Eurovision Countdown- ASC 2022 Contestant AleXa: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/04/eurovision-countdown-asc-contestant.html
Eurovision Countdown- ASC 2022 Winner AleXa: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/04/eurovision-countdown-asc-2022-winner.html
Since winning ASC, AleXa released two more EPs- Back in Vogue (2022) and Juliet (2023)- and several singles under her first stage name. In March this year she announced that she was re-debuting as Kim Seri which is her Korean name. (She has mixed Korean and Russian American heritage.)*
She will also no be longer be signed to ZB Label. Her last release under them was her debut studio album Sugarcoat, which came out on 7th March.
Apparently, it hasn't been an amicable transition for Seri and she's lost access to her AleXa social media accounts. She has set up new ones under her new name, which I'll link to below.
Seri's recent music has been mainly English language and pop-punk style. However, for her new single VITAL CHECK with Kik50, she has returned to her K-pop roots. On her YouTube page she describes herself as "a Kpop artist and songwriter".
Kik5o X AleXa- VITAL CHECK
This is VITAL CHECK, Seri/AleXa's latest single (released under AleXa). It's a collaboration with Korean rapper Kik5o (real name Cheon Yu-gyeong).*
VITAL CHECK is a project single album, about denying your stereotypical self and seeking to dominate the present moment. It's described as Afro-pop and is a mixture of English and Korean lyrics.
The music video was uploaded on 10th April but I think the single album was released on 8th May. Click "Subtitles/closed captions! on YouTube, for English subtitles! :)
