Weekly Music Video

Today's video is Run Back To You by Chinese rapper/singer LAY and American singer Lauv. Lay (real name Lay Zhang) is a member of Korean/Chinese boy band EXO and its Chinese sub-unit EXO-M. 

LAY made his solo debut on 7th October 2016, releasing his debut single what U need? It was a surprise gift for fans to celebrate his birthday. Later that month he brought out his debut EP Lose Control (Mandarin Chinese language). In October 2017, he released his debut solo album LAY 02 SHEEP, also on his birthday.

To date LAY has released 3 more albums- Namanana (2018), Lit (2020) and Producer (2021), and 4 more EPs- Winter Special Gift (a special winter album from 2017), Honey (2019), East (2021) and West (2022). His singles include  what U need, Lose Control, I Need U (dedicated to his grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary), Sheep, Namanana, Lit, Joker and Veil. He sings and raps in Chinese, Korean and English.

In addition to releasing music, LAY also acts. His TV shows and films include Chinese TV show The Mystic Nine (a prequel to the TV series The Lost Tomb), the 2017 Chinese/Indian film Kung Fu Yoga (which also stars Jackie Chan) Chinese movie The Island (2018 and Chinese crime thriller No More Bets (2023). 

LAY took a break from EXO  for several years to concentrate on his solo career. He reunited with them in 2021 for their 9th album DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING. I think he is currently an inactive member again.

Run Back To You is LAY and Lauv's first collaboration. It's an English language song described as a "captivating blend of contemporary pop melodies and nostalgic retro vibes". The single was released on 23rd February.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. Weekly Music Video

This week's video is The Way You Move by American singer JayDon . His real name is JayDon McCrary (his previous stage name was J.D. McCrary) and he started out as a child actor, appearing on a couple of episodes of American TV series K.C. Undercover  in 2015 and going on to voice Young Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King .  In January 2018, JayDon released his official debut single Inviting All of You, going on to become the youngest solo artist  to sign with Hollywood Records (part of Disney Music Group ) that summer. He also released the single My Name in August and his debut EP followed in April 2019. Last year, JayDon changed his stage name from J.D.
