Weekly Music Video

Today's video is Crush by Bella Poarch and Lauv. Bella (real name Denarie Bautista Taylor) is a Filipino American social media influencer and singer. She was born in the Philippines, adopted by an American and Filipina couple aged 3 and later moved to America. Bella sadly had a difficult childhood, growing up in an abusive home. She has said that working on her first EP Dolls helped her to confront the trauma from her past.

Bella joined the US military in 2015, aged 17. After leaving, she entered the public eye in 2020 when she started posting gaming, cosplay and lip syncing on the social media platform TikTok. She went on to join YouTube and Twitter.

In May 2021, Bella launched her music career with the release of the single Build a B*tch, having signed a record deal with Warner Records. She released her debut EP Dolls in August 2022. Her other singles are Inferno with American singer Sub Urban, Dolls, Living Hell and Crush.

Lauv (real name Ari Staprans Leff) is an American singer who has also built a career as a songwriter for other artists. The first song of his to gain attention (as a singer) was The Other, released in 2015 , which he co-wrote. He went on to release his debut EP Lost in the Light in September 2015.

His breakthrough single was I Like Me Better, released in May 2017. A year later he brought out the compilation album/playlist I Met You When I Was 18 (The Playlist) and his debut album How I'm Feeling was released in March 2020.

To date Lauv has released 9 more EPs (the most recent being 2020's Without You), two remix albums and one more studio album, All 4 Nothing (2022). Artists he's worked with include American singer and songwriter Julia Michaels (who he also dated at one time) Australian singer Troye Sivan, British singer Anne-Marie, American band LANY and Korean boy band BTS.

Crush was released on 15th September. It's a lighthearted  pop song about how it's fun to have a crush rather than getting involved in a relationship. Please note that the song contains swearing. :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
