Timbaland Link-up- Part 2

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week, I wasn't feeling well the past couple of days. :)

Last summer I wrote a post called Timbaland Link-up, featuring collaborations that American producer and rapper Timbaland had done with other artists. I ended up splitting it into two parts because it was quite long. You can see Part 1 here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/07/timbaland-link-up-part-1.html

I wrote several posts that ended up being two-parters last year, so now I'm catching up! lol. Here is Part 2 of the Timbaland link-up. :)

The Way I Are feat. Keri Hilson, D.O.E and Sebastian

In June 2007 Timbaland released The Way I Are, the 2nd single from his 1st studio album Shock Value, which came out in April 2007. It features American singer Keri Hilson and is also on international editions of her debut album In a Perfect World (2009). Timbland and Keri co-wrote the song.

The Way I Are is one of Timbaland's biggest hits to date, reaching Top 5 in the US charts and No. 1 in other countries, including the UK.

There's also an extended version featuring rapper D.O.E and Timbaland's brother Sebastian. I don't recall always seeing them credited but that's the version in the music video.

Ayo Technology (with 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake)

A month later, Timbo teamed up with  rapper 50 Cent and singer Justin Timberlake  (*NSYNC  member turned solo star) for the single Ayo Technology. Timbaland and JT had previously worked together when Timberland produced Justin's hit single Cry Me a River and debut solo album Justified in 2002.

Timbaland also produced Justin's 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds, which includes the hit single SexyBack featuring him. They went on to work together on Carry Out (see below), Give It To Me and Keep Going Up (also see below). The last two were with Nelly Furtado.

Ayo Technology was the 4th single from 50 Cent's 3rd album Curtis, which was released in September 2007. It did well both in America and abroad. The song is about sexual fantasies and the video (which was filmed in London) features strippers and sexy scenes!

Timbaland produced the song with record producer Danja  (who started out in music by working for him) and contributes vocals.

Apologize (with OneRepublic)

2007 was a busy year for Timbaland, also seeing the release of the hit single Apologize in September. The song was originally by the American pop/rock band OneRepublic but Timbaland also did a version of it. The original is from OneRepublic's debut album Dreaming Out Loud (2007).

Timbaland's version appears on his 2nd album Shock Value and was one of his most successful singles internationally, getting to No. 1 in several countries, including Australia, Italy, Turkey, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

Scream feat. Keri Hilson and Nicole Scherzinger

Scream was the 5th and last single from Shock Value, coming out in late 2007 in the US and early 2008 elsewhere. It features Keri Hilson (who he previously worked with on The Way I Are; see above) and Nicole Scherzinger (former lead singer of American vocal and dance group The Pussycat Dolls).

Scream is my favourite Timbaland song. There's also an extended version on the album, which has more vocals from Timbaland at the end.

4 Minutes (with Madonna and Justin Timberlake)

Timbaland collaborated with "Queen of Pop" Madonna and Justin Timberlake for 4 Minutes in 2008. It was the lead single from Madonna's 11th studio album Hard Candy (2008).

4 Minutes was released in March 2008 and was successful internationally, reaching No. 1 and Top 10 in several charts.

Carry Out feat. Justin Timberlake

Timbo and Timberlake teamed up once again for Carry Out in 2009. It was the 3rd single from Timbaland's 3rd album Shock Value II, which was released in December 2009.

There's also a remix featuring rapper Twista, which came out the following February.

If We Ever Meet Again feat. Kary Perry

The 4th single from Shock Value II was If We Ever Meet Again and it also came out at the end of 2009. It features American singer Katy Perry and it was later featured on the deluxe edition of her 3rd album Teenage Dream (2010).

The song got to No. 1 in New Zealand and the Czech Republic, and was in the Top 10 in other countries, including the UK.

Keep Going Up (with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake)

In September last year, Timbaland reunited with both Justin and Canadian singer Nelly Furtado for the single Keep Going Up. The trio had previously worked together on Give It To Me back in 2007 (see the first link-up post).

Keep Going Up is an R'n'B/dance-pop song. While Give It To Me remains my favourite collaboration of theirs, I also like this. :) This is the visualiser.

My Way (with Anna Margo)

And last October, Timbaland released My Way with up and coming American singer/songwriter Anna Margo. The video sees Timbaland DJing at a house party, where Anna is also hanging out.

While there is a big gap in between Timabland's lead singles, he's also been working with other artists over the years, whether featuring on their music or producing. Here are a few more of his collabs:

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
