Weekly Music Video

This week's video is girls like me don't cry by American singer thuy. (The song title is stylised in lower case, like thuy's name.) It's the lead single from her new EP of the same name, (the follow up to 2021's i hope u see this), which was released on 6th October. It also features previously released singles trust with Australian singer RINI and playing tricks.

girls like me don't cry is about struggling to show emotion during a tough time, but finding relief when you let all your feelings out. Growing up thuy was nicknamed "Crybaby" by her uncle but the message of the song is that women (or anyone) can cry and still be strong. I do believe it's important to feel our emotions, in fact I've written a series about it over on my spriitual/self-help blog Falling Petals!

girls like me don't cry is a R'n'B song which also has a dance vibe. This is the official music video and it premiered on 6th October, (the same day as the EP came out).

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
