It's almost Halloween (or Hallowe'en, the alternative spelling which I like), so it's time for my yearly post! This year it's on Monday (31st October). I also celebrate the pagan festival Samhain on this date. I thought that for 2022, I would feature a selection of different videos and previous posts related to supernatural and scary subjects (similar to my past Hallowe'en Inspiration post)!
Ghosts
Films
The Disappeared (2008)
In my More Hallowe'en Films + TV post from 2017, I featured the British horror The Disappeared, which is about a teenage boy who believes he is being haunted by his little brother, who has disappeared but is thought to be dead. You can read more about it and see a trailer here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2017/10/more-halloween-films.html
Darling (2007)
Darling is a Bollywood horror film about a man haunted by the ghost of his murdered mistress. I also featured it in the More Hallowe'en Films + TV post (scroll down): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2017/10/more-halloween-films.html
Half Light (2006)
In 2018 I wrote a post called Hallowe'en Inspiration and included the 2006 British film Half Light, starring American actress Demi Moore. It's a supernatural romance and mystery/thriller rather than "straight up" horror, but still suits the Hallowe'en theme, since it's about a ghost!
Visit the post to read more about it (scroll down to the Films section): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/10/halloween-inspiration.html
Films/Music
Aayi Aayi from Bhoot Police
Last year I did a post called Spooky Videos for Hallowe'en! which featured the music video for Aayi Aayi from the Bollywood film Bhoot Police (2021). See the post here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/10/spooky-videos-for-halloween.html
Kaali Teri Gutt from Phone Bhoot
And now a brand-new film! Phone Bhoot (Phone Ghost) is an upcoming Bollywood horror comedy about two ghost busters, Gullu (Ishaan Khattar) and Major (Siddhant Chaturvedi) who team up with a ghost (played by Katrina Kaif). The film, which also stars veteran actor Jackie Shroff, is set for release on 4th November
This is Kaali Teri Gutt, a new song from the movie. I think it translates as something like "Your Black Hair Braid" in English. I didn't know what "Gutt" meant but found an English translation of the song (see below). The playback singers are Romy and Sakshi Holkar. The video features the 3 main stars.

Monsters
TV
Mountain Monsters is an American reality show about a group of monster hunters in West Virginia, USA. I wrote about it in the Hallowe'en Inspiration post: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/10/halloween-inspiration.html
Season 8 just started here in the UK. Team leader Trapper sadly died in 2019, so the AIMS team are now down to 5. But they're still keeping their mission going! :)

Vampires
Films
I've been interested in vampires for a long time, despite being really frightened by a Dracula film when I was a child! So, there are quite a few vampire posts on the blog, lol.
Top 10 Vampire Films (one of my earliest posts from April 2011!): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2011/04/top-10-vampire-films.html

Fright Night Remake- my review of the 2011 remake of Fright Night (1985); check out the Top 10 Vampire Films post above to read about the original Fright Night and the 1988 sequel Fright Night Part II): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2011/09/fright-night-remake-review.html
Thirst (2009)
Thirst (Bakjwi) is a Korean film with a unique/odd vampire story! The storyline of a deadly illness seems eerily relevant now, with the pandemic. Back then it didn't seem that something like that would happen.
Check out the More Hallowe'en Films + TV post to read about it and see a trailer (scroll down): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2017/10/more-halloween-films.html
Books
My Favourite Vampire Book Series (post I did back in 2014): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-favourite-vampire-booksseries.html

Music
Now for some music!
Shakedown- At Night
The music video for the 2002 dance song At Night by Shakedown by Swiss music duo Shakedown has a vampire theme. The vocals are by American singer Terra Deva. It's actually 20 years since it was released and 10 years since I featured it as a Weekly Music Video!
Watch it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2012/10/weekly-music-video_31.html
NCT 127- Favorite (Vampire)
In last year's Spooky Videos for Hallowe'en! post, I featured Favorite (Vampire) by Korean boy band NCT 127. Watch it here (bottom of the page): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/10/spooky-videos-for-halloween.html
Werewolves
I've never been as interested in werewolves but there are some good books and films out there. :)
Films
The Company of Wolves (1984)
My 2016 Hallowe'en Faves + Round-up post featured a clip from the British film The Company of Wolves (1984): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2016/10/halloween-faves-round-up.html
Music
Red Velvet- RBB
The video RBB (Really Bad Boy) by
Korean girl group Red Velvet has a werewolf theme! This was a Weekly Music Video the day
before Hallowe'en 2019 and I also included it in last year's Spooky Videos for Hallowe'en! post. Watch it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/10/weekly-music-video_30.html
Witches
TV
Sabrina, The Teenage Witch (my fave teen witch series): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/10/sabrina-teenage-witch.html
Films
Hocus Pocus (1993)
The American kids' fantasy film Hocus Pocus is a classic that many of us grew up with! It's the tale of the Sanderson sisters who were killed for practising witchcraft in the 17th century, but get resurrected 300 years later by teenage boy Max and find themselves in 1993.
You can read my post about it here (written on Hallowe'en 2014): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/10/hocus-pocus.html
The long-awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus has just been released, almost 30 (!!) years after the original. The new film is about two girls, Becca (played by Whitney Peak) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), who accidentally bring back the Sanderson sisters. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker all return in their roles as Winnie, Mary and Sarah respectively.
I haven't seen it yet but have watched a trailer. From what I've seen and read, the storyline seems pretty similar to the original, but I think there's a backstory about when the sisters were young and how they became witches. I look forward to seeing the film, although I hope it's not just a rehash of the first one. I think it would have been good if Max, Allison and Dani would have returned as adults and their kids got involved! But I'll see what I think of this when I watch it. :)
Here's the official trailer:
Hope you enjoyed the post (treats!). Happy Hallowe'en if you celebrate! :)
