TENI- JO (AFRO IN HEELS) by Patience J

First up is an Afro pop dance to the 2020 single Jo by Nigerian singer Teni (sister of Niniola). It's choreographed by Patience J, a dancer, choreographer, actress and teacher from the UK. She has worked for several African and Western artists, including Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Pet Shop Boys and David Guetta.

In this video (posted last June) Patience and her students perform an Afro in heels  choreo to Jo.

SOMI- 'DUMB DUMB' Dance Cover- Ellen and Brian

Next is some K-pop! Here is a dance cover of DUMB DUMB (released last August) by Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer Somi (or Somi Jeon in Western terms), former member of Korean girl group I.O.I. It's performed by Ellen who also put the outfits together and the editing, filming and lighting was done by her husband Brian.

(KPOP IN PUBLIC SOUTH AFRICA) ITSY "In the morning" Dance Cover

I've shared quite a few K-pop in Public videos in the past from groups in various countries, but hadn't come across any from Africa. So, I did a search and found this cover of ITSY's In the morning (which came out in April 2021). It's performed by South African based Valkyrie Dance Group.

Jillina's Belly Dance Shimmy Drill Tutorial

 I haven't danced much over the past couple of years (I used to go to regular belly dance classes) but I have gone to a workshop and a hafla (dance party). I just went to another of my group's haflas this weekend, so I thought I'd share some belly dance inspiration! :)

Here is a shimmy drills tutorial from Jillina (formely in Bellydance Superstars (BDSS) ). It was part of her #2getherWeMove4ward donation programme during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. This video was uploaded in May 2021.

Kusu Kusu from Satyameva Jayate 2- Team Naach feat. Nora Fatehi 

Finally, in my Dance Videos Round-up 2021 post in December, I featured a choreography to Kusu Kusu from the Bollywood film Satayameva Jayate 2. It was performed by dancer and choreographer Sonali Bhaduria of LiveToDance With Sonali and Canadian dancer and actress Nora Fatehi (who stars in the item number music video).  You can see that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/12/dance-videos-round-up-2021.html

Around the same time, Nora also teamed up with Nicole and Sonal of Team Naach for another version of Kusu Kusu. So here is their version.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
