Current Favourite Songs

I have an occasional feature where I share my current favourite songs, but it seems to end up being once a year, lol. Never mind! You can check out the previous posts below:

June 2019: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/06/current-favourite-songs.html

May 2020: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/05/current-favourite-songs.html

Although I have my "all time faves" and other songs I listen to a lot, my current favourites vary. So, here's what I'm into currently. :)

Gen Neo- HOLD BACK and WHERE TO GO

First up are the songs HOLD BACK and WHERE TO GO by the Singaporean singer Gen Neo. They're both from his first EP Ad Astra. I previously featured them in the posts below:

WHERE TO GO (part of C-pop Saturday): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/04/c-pop-saturday.html

Sabrina Carpenter- Honeymoon Fades

Next up is Honeymoon Fades by Sabrina Carpenter. She is an American singer and actress who started out in TV. Her career took off after she played Maya in Girl Meets World, the spin-off from the 90s series Boy Meets World (nostalgia!).

Sabrina launched her music career in March 2014 with the single Can't Blame a Girl for Trying, followed by her debut EP of the same name in April that year. She released her debut studio album Eyes Wide Open in April 2015.

To date Sabrina has released one more EP, Pandora Sessions (2017) and 3 more albums- Evolution (2016), Singular: Act 1 (2018) and Singular: Act II (2019). Her singles include Eyes Wide Open, Alien with British DJ Jonas Blue, Almost Love, Sue Me, In My Bed, Honeymoon Fades and her latest, Skin.

I discovered this song randomly on Spotify! I'd heard of Sabrina but hadn't listened to her music before. I really liked it when I first heard it.

Honeymoon Fades is from Singular: Act II and came out in February 2020. It's about hoping that a relationship stays passionate after the initial "honeymoon phase". This is an audio.

Karun- I Know

Finally, here is I Know by Kenyan singer Karun. It's from her new EP Catch A Vibe. I like the chilled, almost melancholy vibe.

This is the official lyric video and was uploaded on 5th March.

Check out the video for the title track from Catch A Vibe here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2021/02/weekly-music-video_24.html

I'm also still listening to The Boyz' Reveal and SuperM's One (Monster & Infinity), both K-pop. Watch the videos for both songs here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/11/more-videos-from-my-youtube-playlist-j.html

Hope you enjoyed the post! :) What are you listening to at the moment?

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
