Current Favourite Songs

Last June I did a post about my current favourite songs. I didn't actually realise it was almost a year ago! I thought about making it a regular feature at the time, but obviously I didn't, lol. I listen to a lot of music and while I have my "all time" fave songs, my current favourites change. (Although I'm still listening to Janine a lot and Kru Wu's Explore is still one of my fave songs of his).  So here's what I'm listening to at the moment. :)


MIREI- Lazy Boy

I first came across the Japanese singer MIREI (full name Touyama Mirei, or Mirei Touyama in Western terms) in March when I heard her song Lonely In Tokyo (see below) in March. She released her international English language album Take Me Away in January.

This is Lazy Boy which was the third single from Take Me Away and was released in January. It's about having nostalgia for a past boyfriend, even though the relationship wasn't the best. 

This isn't a music video, just an audio with still images. :)



MIREI- Lonely in Tokyo

My second  fave song from Take Me Away. I bought this on iTunes, along with Lazy Boy.  Lonely in Tokyo is about the dark side of life in Tokyo. I featured it as a Weekly Music Video in March: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/03/weekly-music-video.html



JoJo- So Bad

I was excited when American singer JoJo (full name Joanna Levesque) released her 4th album good to know (written in lower case) at the beginning of the month, but to be honest I don't like it as much as her previous release Mad Love. It still has some good songs though :)

This is So Bad my favourite song from the album. It's about having a sexual relationship with a man involved with someone else. (Being a "side chick" aka "bit on the side" as someone notes in the comments!).

JoJo- Gold

This is my second fave song from good to know. (As with the MIREI songs, I bought both these on iTunes). Gold is a love song , maybe a love/sex song?! This is also the official audio.

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. New J.Lo and JoJo Music

Two singers I like, Jennifer Lopez and JoJo have new music out, so today I'm sharing it on the blog! Jennifer Lopez- Baila Conmigo First up is Jennifer Lopez, whose new song is the Spanish language Baila Conmigo (Dance with Me). It's a cover of the 2018 single by Dayvi featuring Kelly Ruiz . New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. Season 2 saw the departure of Lilly and the addition of 3 new pregnant girls and their partners- Laura Barron and her boyfriend (now husband) Tylor Stawmyor who have son Lucas (and have since had another baby , a 2nd son, who is named Leo),
