Weekly Music Video

Today is New Year's Eve, so this week's video is New Year themed! It's What Are You Doing New Year's Eve by Christina Aguilera.

It's a live performance of the song (recorded at the Eiffel Tower in Paris), which is part of Christina's new Christmas special Christina Aguilera: Christmas in Paris. It marks the 25th anniversary of her first holiday album My Kind of Christmas and consists of a concert film and a live album. The film was shown in American cinemas earlier in December (and was also shown in the UK) and the album was released on 14th December.

Two singles have been released so far- a cover of My Favorite Things from the classic musical The Sound of Music on 26th November and Someday at Christmas on 12th December.

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? is a classic song that was written by American songwriter Frank Loesser (also known for writing for Broadway musicals and composing the winter themed song Baby, It's Cold Outside, which is often sung and played at Christmas) in 1947.

It was originally recorded by American singer Margaret Whiting that same year and has been recorded by many other artists, including R'n'B group The Orioles in December 1949, Ella Fitzgerald in 1960, Johnny Mathis in 1969 and Donny Osmond in 1976.

Christina's performance was uploaded on 27th December. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve is a jazzy song and her voice suits it.

Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a great start to 2026 and great year ahead. :)

P.S. It truly feels like the end of an era with MTV shutting their music channels down here in the UK today (31st Dec). Several other music channels including The Box and Kiss already closed back in July 2024 and I wrote a little about it back then. Also, I recently referenced the fact that that there aren't many music channels left in my Christmas Entertainment! post (when mentioning Wham's Last Christmas video often being shown on them).

The channels that have gone include MTV Music, Club MTV and MTV 90s. As someone who grew up with music channels, it sad to see them go. Although I often watch videos on YouTube, it's just not the same. We have a few left on Sky now (such as Clubland TV and the NOW channels but I wonder how long they'll last. Anyone else who still watched/watches the music channels? :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
