Teedra Moses' Debut Album Reimagined

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week, I haven't been well and didn't manage to finish it yesterday. :)

Last year I started a new series on the blog called Random Albums, where I feature an album I own. The first one was Teedra Moses' debut album Complex Simplicity. You can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/09/random-albums-teedra-moses-complex.html

Note: It was just over a year ago now and I haven't done another post in the series yet! I plan to get back to it in 2026. :)

Complex Simplicity was originally released in August 2004 in the US (but not till June 2005 in the UK). Teedra released a 15th anniversary edition of the album in September 2009. Last year was the 20th anniversary.

Now she has brought out a new version of the album called COMPLEX SIMPLICITY (REIMAGINED), in EP format. It was released on 12th November. Teedra says it features re-imaginings of songs she wrote at a much younger age and is a thank you to fans.

She also says that when she recorded the album, she was more aggressive because that she was the stage she was at in life. For the  EP she wanted to "reconnect with the softer, more feminine parts of herself and bring that sensuality forward".

COMPLEX SIMPLICITY (REIMAGINED) consists of 8 songs- CAUGHT UP (REIMAGINED), Doin You (Reimagined) featuring British rapper and singer Estelle, OUTTA MY HEAD (REIMAGINED) featuring Dawn Richard (best known as a member of now disbanded girl group Danity Kane), COMPLEX SIMPLICITY (REIMAGINED) featuring singer-songwriter Durand Bernarr, RESCUE ME (REIMAGINED) featuring jazz trumpeter and musician Theo Croker, singer Rose Gold and jazz pianist and composer Gerald Clayton, YOU BETTER TELL HER (REIMAGINED), LAST DAY (REIMAGINED) featuring rapper Ab-Soul and BE YOUR GIRL (LUXURIOUS MASHUP).

Doin You was released as the lead single in October, ahead of the EP. Here are my favourite songs. They're in track order except for the single. :)

Doin You (Reimagined)

Here is the new version of Doin You, the lead single (and Track 2 on the EP). It features a rap from Estelle and came out on 29th October. I hadn't heard the original before last year; it's my favourite of the newer songs from the 15th anniversary edition.

I like the reimagined version too. It's intended to make women and men dance together.

CAUGHT UP (REIMAGINED)

Caught Up (Track 1) is one of my favourite songs on the original album.  The reimagined version is slower (although the original one is quite laid back anyway) and perhaps more "chillout".

COMPLEX SIMPLICITY (REIMAGINED)

The title track is another one that I like. For the reimagined version, Teedra teamed up with  Durand Bernarr. It's a more dancey song than the one on the album and I prefer the original. But it's good to hear a new version. :)

YOU BETTER TELL HER (REIMAGINED)

The original You Better Tell Her is one of my fave songs and I like this one as well. It has a slowed down, more chilled vibe.

LAST DAY (REIMAGINED)

Another one I like is Last Day. Ab-Soul features on the reimagined version, which has a slightly softer vibe than the original, with piano music, I think.

BE YOUR GIRL (LUXURIOUS MASHUP) (with KEKI LOVE MUSIC)

Finally, here is a new version of Be Your Girl,  one of the most well known singles. As I've previously mentioned, it was Teedra's 2nd US single (coming after You'll Never Find (A Better Woman) featuring Jadakiss), but I think it was her debut single in the UK.

This is a mashup with American singer (and No Doubt lead vocalist Gwen Stefani's Luxurious (which itself samples Between the Sheets by the Isley Brothers. Luxurious is one of my favourite Gwen songs and Be Your Girl is one of my fave songs from Complex Simplicity , so it's cool to see (and hear) a mashup of the two!

The mix was originally made by kekilovemusic and uploaded to YouTube in October 2024 (titled Just Be Your Girl X Luxurious Mix). Teedra must have liked it because she included it on the EP!

I also like Rescue Me and Outta My Head and the new versions are good too. I actually like the reimagined version of Rescue Me a bit better than the original (it has more a relaxing, jazzy vibe).

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
