V-pop Music and Dance 2023-2024

In February last year I did a V-pop round-up post featuring the Vietnamese posts previously shared on Star Sparkle, plus some new music. You can see that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/02/v-pop-round-up.html

So for 2024, so I thought I'd share some more Vietnamese music and dance that I've featured since then, as well as new videos (plus one video that's older). :)

LONA feat. Ricky Star- Thich hay la yeu con chua biet

This is Thich hay la yeu con chua biet by  Vietnamese singer LONA and featuring Ricky Star.

LONA's real name is Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan (it's Vietnamese so her surname/family name is Nguyen) and her stage name is Lona Kieu Loan, or stylised as just LONA.  She started out in beauty pageants, becoming 1st runner-up of Miss World Vietnam in 2019 and also representing Vietnam at Miss Grand National 2019.

LONA launched her music career in 2020, by competing on the reality TV show King of Rap (Series/Season 1), reaching the Top 10. I think she started releasing her own singles in 2021. Her music is mainly hop hop/alternative hip hop and her most well known songs include Thich hay lay yeu con chua biet- Acoustic Ver, Think Bout Rap, Cong, So Cold and Do Anh Quen Duoc Em ("Challenge Me to Forget You" in English. Her most recent single is Vì Yêu Anh (Dance Version).

Thich hay la yeu con chua biet features rapper Ricky Star. It was released in March 2022.

LONA- Vì Yêu Anh (Dance Version)

And here is Vì Yêu Anh, Lona's latest single. The title translates as "Because I Love You" in English. This is the dance version and came out last December. There's also a remix called White Valentine Version which was released in March. Plus,  LONA did a dance cover of this (see below under the Dance section).

BIGDADDY x EMILY- YÊU NẮM 

Next up is YÊU NẮM, a recent single by real life celebrity couple,  rapper BigDaddy (real name Tran Tat Vu) and singer Emily (Emily Nguyen/Nguyen Huong Ly). Both are stars in Vietnam and confirmed their relationship in 2011. They have two children (son Bao Nguyen and daughter Bao Uyen) and got married last summer. 

YÊU NẮM was released for Valentine's Day (14th February), with the video premiering the day before, on the 13th. I think the title is "Love Hold" or "Holding Love" in English.

I believe the song is something to do with a TikTok  dance trend and also the mobile game Arena of Valor/Lien Quan. (I used Google Translate for some of this information, so apologies for any mistakes!) :)

There's also an R'n'B version with music producer and singer Machiot. And Emily did a dance video too (see Dance section). This version seems more of a pop/dance style.

Vì yêu anh (Dance cover)- Lona, Phương Nhi

And this is a dance cover of LONA's single Vì yêu anh (see above for the music video). It's performed by LONA herself and Vietnamese model Phương Nhi (full name Nguyen Phương Nhi) who was the runner up of Miss World Vietnamese 2022 and Miss International Vietnam 2023. 

It's only a short video (about 31 seconds), but I still thought I'd share it. :) It was uploaded in January.

EMILY x LAST FIRE YÊU NẮM DANCE CUT

Finally, here is a dance video of Vietnamese artists and couple BigDaddy and Emily's Valentine's Day single YÊU NẮM. See above for the music video.

This is the dance cut, and features Emily and dancers from Vietnamese dance group Last Fire Crew (who also appear in the music video). It was uploaded on 20th February.

New J.Lo and JoJo Music

Two singers I like, Jennifer Lopez and JoJo have new music out, so today I'm sharing it on the blog! Jennifer Lopez- Baila Conmigo First up is Jennifer Lopez, whose new song is the Spanish language Baila Conmigo (Dance with Me). It's a cover of the 2018 single by Dayvi featuring Kelly Ruiz . New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. Season 2 saw the departure of Lilly and the addition of 3 new pregnant girls and their partners- Laura Barron and her boyfriend (now husband) Tylor Stawmyor who have son Lucas (and have since had another baby , a 2nd son, who is named Leo),
