Weekly Music Video

Today's music video is Favorite Girl by Canadian singer Chxrry22. Her real name is Lydia, she has Ethiopian heritage and she's from Toronto. Her stage name is pronounced "Cherry22".

Chxrry22 comes from a musical background, with both her parents being in a choir. She started out by singing at local weddings and events, as well posting covers online. Around 2017 she moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the US to advance her career and ended up signing to record label XO Records (which was co-founded by fellow Canadian The Weeknd). She was the label's first female artist.

Chxrry released her debut EP The Other Side in September 2022. Her music is R'n'B and her singles include The Falls, Worlds Away, More and Never Had This. Last October she brought out her 2nd EP Siren.

I came across Chxrry randomly (on Spotify, I think) and look forward to hearing more of her music! :)

Favorite Girl is a sultry R'n'B song. It's from Siren and the EP version features American rapper Offset. This video is a solo performance and was uploaded in December.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002).
