Selection of J-pop Videos

It's been a while since I've done a J-pop specific post (the last one was in April), so today I'm sharing a selection of J-pop videos. :) 


KIRA- Bye Bye Boy

First up is by Bye Bye Boy by KIRA. She is from Osaka and was the first Japanese singer at Macau Casino. She debuted in 2014 with the single Nadeshiko Soul, and brought out her debut album LISTENER KILLER. She released the mini album SURVIVE in 2016 and her 2nd album NAKED in 2018.

KIRA's hit singles include a remix of Nadeshiko Soul featuring MINMI, TERRY JANE with Yosuke Kubokuza from LINE and Bye Bye Baby.  Her latest release is the digital single Don't text me, which came out in August.

KIRA's music is more J-R'n'B than J-pop. Some other J-R'n'B singers I like are Hiromi and Jasmine. Two of my favourite Japanese singers Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro have also released more R'n'B style music as well as J-pop. See below for more on Jasmine and Koda Kumi. :)

Bye Bye Boy is the lead song from NAKED and came out in May 2018.

JASMINE- FALLIN' feat. 5lack

Jasmine  (also written as JASMINE is a J-R'n'B singer whose music I first came across back in 2011 (can't believe it's been so long!). I think her albums and digital music were a bit difficult to get hold of in the UK at the time I hadn't heard anything by her in recent years, but a few months ago I found the song FALLIN' on YouTube. 

FALLIN' came out last November and is from Jasmine's latest EP JASMINE 2.0, which was also released in November 2019. The song features 5lack (the name makes me think of the American rapper/singer 6LACK, lol.

ONE N' ONLY- Shut Up! BREAKER

I've mentioned before that I don't know that many Japanese boybands, but I've come across more in recent years. This is ONE N'ONLY, a 6 member dance and vocal group formed by Stardust Promotion. The bands consist of members from two different groups, EBiSSH and SBC (Satori Boys Club). The vocalists are TETTA (full name Seki Tetta), REI (Sawamura Rei) and EIKU (Yamashita Eiku); and the dancers are HAYATO (Takao Hayato), KENSHIN (Kamimura Kenshin) and NAOYA (Kusakawa Naoya).*

TETTA, REI  NAOYA are members of EBiSHH, and EIKO, KENSHIN and HAYATO are part of SBC. A former member of both EBiSHH and One N' Only is KOHKI (Hayahi Kohki). According to Kprofiles he left both groups in December last year to focus on his studies.

ONE N' ONLY made their debut with the song I'M SWAG in May 2018. Their second single Dark Night was a chart hit, reaching No.1 in both the Oricon Weekly Ranking and Billboard JAPAN Hot 100. Their third single My Love came out in October 2019 and they released their debut album ON' O this April.

Shut Up! BREAKER came out in March.

Koda Kumi- DO ME (KATFYR Remix)- Live Performance Video-

Here's one from my favourite Japanese singer Koda Kumi (or Kumi Koda in Western terms). This is the KATFYR remix of her song DO ME. and is from her album re(MIX) . Thhs is the Live Peformance Video and it was uploaded in March.

Finally here is work it out by mixed gender group lol (written in lower case). It was released back in June and has summer vibes. I'm missing the summer already! lol.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026.
