C-pop Saturday

Time for the first C-pop Saturday of the year! I started it last April and planned to make it a regular feature, but only ended up doing it 3 times. Never mind, I can do better this year! lol.


Lexie Liu- Nada

First up is Nada by Lexie Liu. It's a mixture of Chinese (Mandarin, I think) and English Nada is the Spanish for "Nothing" and is about Lexie "taking over the world like it's nada".

It was uploaded to YouTube on 18th December and is from her new EP 2030, which was released on 1st February.




Lexie Liu feat KILLY- Outta Time

Here's another one from Lexie. This song is called Outta Time and features Canadian rapper KILLY. It's also from 2030 and was uploaded on 1st Feb, the same day as the EP came out. Both songs have an R'n'B/hip hop vibe.

Fei feat Jackson Wang- Hello

This is Hello by Fei (full name Wang Feifei), a former member of Korean/Chinese girlband miss A.* The group disbanded in late 2017.

Fei is from Hainan province is China and attended  a South Korean arts university with Meng Jia, a fellow member of miss A. She made her solo singing debut in 2016 with the single album Fantasy, releasing both a Korean and a Chinese version.She's also an actress and TV star, her acting credits including Korean TV series Dream High and the web drama Swan, and she's appeared on the reality shows MasterChef Korea and Dancing with the Stars 3.

Hello features Hong Kong singer Jackson Wang (member of K-pop boyband GOT7 turned solo singer) and came out on 7th December.

Finally this is Fake Monk by American singer Khalil Fong.  This is the official lyric video and it was uploaded on 27h December.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
