New Music for 2018- Part 1

Sorry the post is late this week, I started this one yesterday but it's not finished, so I'm  going to split it into 2 parts. )


Last year I did a new releases post for the beginning of 2017. Now here's new music for the start of 2018! These songs came out at the very end of last year. :)


African (Nigerian)


Tiwa Savage- Sugarcane

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has a new single called Sugarcane. It's the second one off her latest EP of the same name  and was released at the end of Dec. She's singing in Yoruba (I think) and English.

C-pop


Meng Jia & Jackson Wang- MOOD

Meng Jia (former member of now disbanded Korean/Chinese girl group miss A) and Jackson Wang (member of K-pop band GOT7) have collaborated on the song MOOD. It' s a mixture of Chinese language (although I'm not sure which dialect) and English. The video was uploaded to YouTube on 27th December.





Jolin Tsai- Stand Up

Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai's latest single is Stand Up. It was released just before New Year and is the them song for the Chinese/Hong Kong fantasy film Zhuo yao ji  2 (Monster Hunt 2), which is set to be released on 16th Febrary (Chinese New Year).  I believe she's singing in Mandarin.





J-pop

BoA- Jazzclub

Korean singer BoA has a new Japanese single called Jazzclub. It's from her forthcoming album which is set to be released in Japan on Valentine's Day (14th February).

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is DMC by Myles Lloyd , GEMINI , Karencici and JUNNY . Myles is a Canadian R'n'B singer-songwriter from Montreal. He is an independent singer, and released his first song Step Down in August 2017 and his debut album Goodbye in September 2019. His other albums include Forever Yours (2022) and WHAT MORE CAN I SAY ? (2024). His recent singles include Closer, Grapevine and Voodoo. DMC is a newer version/remix of Drive Me Crazy, which Myles originally released in November 2024. A music video premiered in July 2025.  For DMC, Myles teamed up with South Korean R'n'B/alternative artist GEMINI, Chinese American singer Karencici and fellow Canadian singer-songwriter JUNNY.
