New K-pop Releases

Here's my first K-pop post of the year! (We're halfway through 2018 and I just realised I hadn't done one so far, lol). These are a few of the latest releases.. :)

BTS- FAKE LOVE

First up this is FAKE LOVE by BTS. It was released on 18th May and is from their 3rd studio album Love Yourself: Tear.

Samuel-TEENAGER

This is TEENAGER by Samuel. His full name is Samuel Kim Arredondo (Korean name Samuel Kim or Kim Samuel) and he's an American singer with a Korean mum and Mexican dad, who's based in South Korea. Samuel started out as K-pop trainee aged 11 and was part of the duo 1Punch in 2015. He launched his solo career with the mini album Sixteen and single of the same name in summer 2017. Single Candy and debut album Eye Candy followed in November.

This year Samuel (who despite last year's song, only just turned 16 in 2018; makes me feel old!) has released the single One featuring Jung Il-hoon of BTB and Teenager. His 2nd EP One came out in March and was re-released in May as Teenager. He has also released two Japanese versions of the singles Sixteen and One.

In addition to singing, Samuel is branching out into TV presenting. He took over from Nancy of Momoland as presenter of the TV show Pops in Seoul this month.

TEENAGER features rapper Lee Rohan and was released on 30th May.

PRISTIN V- Get It

PRISTIN V are a a subgroup of the girl group PRISTIN who were formed this year. The group consists of 5 members- Nayoung (full name Lim/Im Na-young), Rena (real name Kang Yae Bin), Kyulkung (real name Zhou Jieqiong), Roa (real name Kim Min Kyung) and Eunwoo (Jung Eunwoo).*  Kyulkung is Chinese and the other members are Korean.

PRISTIN V released their first single album Like a V on 28th May and Get It is their debut single.

KHAN- I'm Your Girl ?

This is I'm Your Girl ? by KHAN, a new duo made up of Minju (full name Jeon Min-ju) and Euna Kim (birth name Kim Yu-na), who were both members of now disbanded girl group The Ark. They debuted on 23rd May with the single album I'm Your Girl?

MONSTA X- JEALOUSY

JEALOUSY was actually released at the end of March so it's not so new, but I like the song so am including it. :) It's from MONSTA X's 6th mini album The Connect: Dejavu.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
